EDFL Premier Discussion 2024

Exactly and the fact that he walked in and out of the Keilor team proves that the EDFL is not as all and mighty as you think it is. Pascoe Vale only marginally defeated Deer park at Pascoe Vales home ground late in the year and Pascoe Vale knocked off Keilor 3 weeks ago. How Long has McGuane been in charge for 4 or 5 flags?
Paco won by 29 points and kicked 16.22 to 14.5. 38 scoring shots to 19. That doesn’t count as close in my books. Again… start next year beating a top 5 side.

Don't think so. I have watched both teams this year. Hoppers Crossing have quality players on every line. Jed Anderson would be one of the top 5 in the edfl if he did not play in the wrfl. Hoppers Crossing ruckman would cream Keilor ruckman.
Be realistic. If T McGunae can walk into the Keilor team in between Nab Cup games then the edfl is perhaps not as strong as you think it is.
Hey bud, yes Anderson would be top 5 in edfl is correct. It wouldn’t be 30 goals but Keilor would win.
I don’t like keilor but for f sake stop mentioning young McGuane on here. He played his part in that GF side I thought. But his young so stop raising his name in the way you do.. 😡

I got home about 2 hours ago from the Keilor rooms with Mick and had the pleasure of being in his presence all night. What can I say, number 5 for the number 1.

I remember in the late 20’s when the pies went back to back to back to back and Old Paradian Jock McHale was at the helm. I was around 7 at the time and I am just over the moon by what I saw yesterday. Mick has the potential to coach AFL level. He’s on top of his own mountain. It was a brilliant game capped off with a 5 year plan that has been in place to recruit juniors and establish a foundation of a senior side through Keilor juniors has worked magnificently.

As for Leigh Tudor, comisserations my young apprentice. What you have achieved in your first season at the helm for the panthers is something to hold your head high too. From being back in top flight since 2011, to build a side from the ground up to make a grand final is astounding and you should be so proud.

Cannot wait to spend the silly season with the Gremlin and Longblow

Please stop with comparing other local sides to Keilor…. It really wouldn’t be close unless you are talking about Vafa Premier division.

Not a Keilor person in the slightest, however other clubs have the ability to spend as much as Keilor- up to them to find a way how to.

Fantastic club and are the bench mark.
Heidelberg would definitely give Keilor a shake.

Look yourself in the mirror and think if talking crap about a 16 year old online is acceptable. If he didn’t have the surname you wouldn’t say his name - but since you dislike Mick you decide to have a go at his son who has done nothing wrong.

You’re a joke. Tom is a great young man with potential to be a star in the AFL.

What a boring season that was finishing off with another Big 3 Club Flag. Past 10 year Premiers Keilor 4 , Mores 3 , Abers 3.
The size of these clubs creates a network that others simply cannot match at this point in time. From the outside Pascoe Vale looks capable of bridging the gap and Airport West is taking steps towards building the footprint of their club. From Div 1 Marby has the junior base to become a big club and the way M Valley is tracking they could become a premier club again. For too many of the clubs in Premier or previously in Prem all the focus went into the senior team to the detriment of the rest of the club.

They always say you have to lose one to win one. That may be the case for Pacco long as they keep producing kids and some reliable recruits next year they may get another crack.

I think the secret is keeping the list together which no doubt Keilor have done for long periods.

I have only been involved at Keilor for 2 years after my son came down to play at Williamstown and went to Keilor because I have known Mickey a long time.

My son had won 2 flags and managed a BOG medal yesterday. I can assure you all contract negotiations have been above board and much less what he could have got at other clubs in various competitions.

He would play there next year for less money like many others that have probably done before him. He loves club and boys he plays with so sometimes it’s not all about money. So unless you know any internal specifics about any club maybe stop making outlandish statements.

Keilor are a great club and will continue to be that club long after Mickey or specific players leave because they have good people involved.

Great post, which is great to see some actual facts into a post. Nathan has continued to develop so well over the past two years and his two finals this year with Keilor have been outstanding, especially yesterday. He is a great young man.
I am sure he will be a permanent member of the Williamstown team next year which he deserves to be in their best 22
Congrats

Some movement at Abers an ex afl player reported to be getting the coaches job with the current coach asked to step aside and remain as an assistant… anyone heard something similar?

Jason Heatley has departed from North Heidelberg and (allegedly) his son has signed on there.
Could it be him I wonder ?

Heidelberg NFNL may have a say in it.
Don’t support them but they are a super side …….

Turbo my man. I think T McGuane is a quality player and if he can grow a couple of inches will be an excellent afl draft pick for any club. What I was alluding to was if keilor are such a powerhouse then a junior player would not have the ability to drift in and out of the side when playing commitments elsewhere preclude a young player from playing in the one side all year long.

Give it a spell mate. You would not know what each player is getting paid at Keilor so don't use the word 'specifics'. If your son came down to play at Williamstown he would not be worth as much to any club as an outstanding player like your son who is willing to commit for the entire season to the local club. BTW how is your son a 2 point player when playing at Williamstown yet Mick Edwards at airport west who moved to airport west from deer park is considered a 5 point player. This makes zero sense and it would be appreciated if you or someone could explain this?

Laguda announced at Parkside.

Heard Smart, Christofi and Hill 100% at DP

Caluzzi, Campisi and 3 others (can’t remember their names) signed at CS also.

Wow Massive losses, can’t replace them especially since majority are 1
Pointers…. World of pain for EK. I feel for them.

Deer Park pressure was the cause of the inaccurate kicking and the balance of the scoreline was determined by the umpires make no mistake. I was there and I will not be going to that s hole again in a hurry

No one is buying your sympathy, just jog on and be happy with the carnage left behind as promised at the start of the year! Campaigner

I like Tom and I like Mick so relax before you pop a valve.

Honestly, how many clubs has Smart had? Sunshine, Deer Park, Aberfeldie (signed but didn’t play), East Keilor and now back to Deer Park. All in the last 5-6 years might I add!

Would be worth his weight in gold at deer park being a 1 pointer, we all know they need them!
