Didn't look ready to me. Regularly flat footed and reactive. Still learning where to position and run. Ryan looked ready.

WHE’s stats are heavily skewed by his round 1 performance which was unusually poor in terms of clangers and turnovers. I think they’ll continue to rebound to his normal levels as the year progresses. If his round 1 performance wasn’t enough to see him omitted, I doubt improving stats will.

Time will tell… but they’ll want to put games into talent kids like Allen early

And WHE is probably the worst performing player in the lineup atm

I think he’s dropped soon enough if the 5 plus turnovers and 53% DE a game continues

Rightfully more should be expected of a senior player who’s playing an outside role

Agree he was poor in R1 - thought last week was one of his better games - agree with the sentiment that his best footy is behind him and that we really need one of the players currently outside our best 22 to step up and go past him if we are to threaten this year.

Excellent point. I have a lot of respect for WHE. He has played above himself so many times and has been an excellent contributor for the Pies. Although I wish him well and do not want to see his demise, I hope that one of the younger lads eventually makes his position untenable.

I think they’ll be reluctant to change a winning team unless forced to do so by injury or suspension. We get a couple of L’s and the appetite for change might grow. Happy for the kids to earn their chances through the VFL.

He loves it at Collingwood. I've had confirmation from some WA folk.
His entire family took out Pies memberships as well.
His old man Ben was a Hawthorn premiership player for those that didn't know.

He’s already extended to a 4 year contract. If he wanted to go home would never have signed

100% agree. I think this bloke will be something special. At least he has a couple of Aunts and Uncles who live in Vic, plus his brother works at SEN, so hopefully he will stay long term.

I always wonder about comments like this, if recruiters are good at what they do wouldn’t they have thought that?

15 other juniors ahead of him. Granted there have some stunners that have gone late, let’s hope this one takes the cake

My comment stands. Everyone was worried about his back issues.
Clubs often get it wrong. Allan would have easily gone top 5.

I dont think he would have ever have gone top 5. I think he sits outside that but not by much.
Cadman went 1 is a sort after key fwd. Ashcroft at 2. Sheezel at 3. Wardlaw 4 didnt play much more than Allan but looks a gun. Id take Phillipou ahead of him. Essendon felt Tsatas was better. McKenzie also looks really good as well.
If I had a choice and I was Carlton I would have chosen Allan over Hollands at 11(who is a good player) because playing a similar role Allan has more upside longer term.
