Back to platform preferences I'm going to get this on PS5 too. I preferred previous games on PC mainly due to frame rates and loading times but those things should be non issues on PS5. Also sitting in a party chat with some friends will be a calming influence lol.

Yeah im going for PS5 version, it's locked at 60fps on PC anyway so I'm not getting a massive difference between the two versions

Yeah they never do the PC version justice. Will be amazing once modders have their hands on it but a shame they couldn't get it right themselves.
All Souls games are stand alone for the most part. Majority of people who have played them all probably couldn't tell you the story, you have to work for it!

if your shithouse like me then i suggest playing while its hot, you can get help via summons etc. later on it wiil be harder as you might not get connected with others
For those wondering, discussing, the game has performance issues on all platforms. A PC patch was dropped tell days ago that addresses these issues (haven't heard how much better it is). I assume the same for consoles.
I bought it and I have never played a FromSoft game. I've beaten Lords of the Fallen and I found that difficult. I'm told that while this is more accessible, is purely down to the open world, as you can engage in encounters at your own leisure. It is still hard as f**K though

A lot of people are calling it Dark Souls BOTW. considering that it’s a massive open world it might be more forgiving
This looks great, however, until it supports ultra wide play (specifically 5120x1440) it's DOA for me.

The fps cap is another reason. It makes sense though. These games have such precise party windows, iframes etc, that they would have some pretty intricate keyframe triggers inside the animations. For many games this sort of thing wouldn't matter but for games like these the animation frames would have to be somewhat tightly coupled to the game's frame rate to work as intended.
That was the problem with Dark Souls 2 at launch. So much shit was tied to framerate even if you played at 60 your gear would degrade twice as fast.
Its not an excuse for the devs though, just a flaw they didnt address.

Given their last game was also GOTY the guy making the call might not that wrong at all. From simply don't produce a bad game.
The point is he literally can't be wrong because he prefaced it by saying it was in his subjective opinion. At that point he can say whatever the shit he wants lol
