Can we please stop talking about petty grudges against men's players and concentrate on how fantastic the women were today?

- Port Adelaide has won their first finals match with their second-highest score in their history. They dominated at stoppages, leading clearances by 15 and outscoring the Tigers by 24 points from this source. Their five goals in extra time were also a notable difference in the match.

- Abbey Dowrick has been at her typical damaging best today, recording a team-high 406 metres gained – the only Power player over 300 metres gained. Dowrick averages a team-high 387 metres gained per game this season – ranked in the top 10 players throughout the league.

- The Power ranks last in the league for disposals (197 per game) but have recorded the fourth-best disposals per goal conversion (35.3). They have recorded seven fewer disposals and 22 fewer uncontested possessions today.

That was a good performance, well done.

Maybe the 3 flags In 5 years is still doable lol. It’s the final year next year but hear me out:

Kane already thinks we’ve got the sanfl premiership in the bag.

And these girls probably won’t win it this year but I reckon next year theyll be a good chance.

Just need the men’s to pull their finger out for daddy and bobs your uncle.

It’s still her first year 😂😂

The likes of Amelie Borg, Sachi Syme and Ella Boag have come a long way this year.

Yeah but from the start of the year her confidence in her own game has grown so much.

Wonder if Gary was there today?

That’s what a finals performs should look like. Sorry, but that toughness, skill, composure, gut-running and discipline is what it’s all about. How can you not enjoy that.

Compare how these ladies performed at their best when it counted with numerous senior players injured all season, against our men.

Some people laughed when I said it but this team has always had the right attitude even when we were losing most weeks in the first two seasons. Arnell has built a team that is disciplined and gives great effort. We have leaders on every line and a coach who instills confidence in her players.

Our mens team is stacked with talent but that's where it ends. Poor leadership on and off the field. No reliable base line of effort that you can fall back on when things go against you.

The difference is stark.

Just took a look at the Richmond board take on this game. My oh my. The salt.

Some great come back runs from Richmond at times but there is no way you could argue that win wasn't deserved.

The difference in fitness between the two teams was the big difference - and by that I mean the capacity to keep running hard at the contest and make the right decisions when running with the ball under pressure. That is something that comes from hard work on the track. But Hawthorn in Melbourne is a step up again.

This was the first Port Adelaide game we’ve been to in 2024, and the first game for our 11 week old daughter. I haven’t enjoyed a game of footy so much since the 2014 EF.

What a game, what a win, and what a ****ing team!

Loved Caitlyn Wendland’s third quarter. Just after Richmond hit the front after two ominous goals, Levicki wins a hit out at centre half forward. Wendland running at full pace grabs the ball one-touch with opponent hot on her heels. She breaks out into space, then steadies just enough to control the kick across her body to goal. We’re back in front.

Then a few minutes later she crumbs a marking contest in the forward line, again hitting the ball at full speed, picking it up first-grab below her knees. This time as well as an opponent hot on her heels, there are two bigger and taller defenders right in front of her. She slams into them, trying to crash through the space between them, and just manages to open up enough space to squeeze through a handball to a surprised Ash Saint, who had enough presence of mind in heavy traffic to grab the ball, and make herself just enough space to kick a brilliant goal. Our two-goal lead is now restored, and they never got closer than that for the rest of the game.

Wendland just keeps on getting into the right place at the right time at a crucial stage in the match, and scoring or creating brilliant goals that she makes look easy. And the best part is, she’s only nineteen!!

Ken. Are you looking at the above game plan stats????

What I loved about this team was Lauren in the Sunday Mail article stating that, at Port, "we exist to win premierships"!

What a breath of fresh air. Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!!

We may ultimately fall short next week, hopefully not. But at least the attitude is "we're here to win the whole damn thing", not think finals are scary, which is a huge plus for me.
It's the way we should be approaching it.

Piper Window has come a long way this year.
She just works so hard, usually in the thick of the contest against bigger and taller opponents, for such a young player. I reckon she’ll be a big improver next year after a good preseason.

I’m dreaming of a midfield of Piper, Abbey D, Lauren Young and a rejuvenated Hannah Ewings :praying: for 2025.

It was great seeing Lauren Young after the game enjoying the win as much as the game day players, and running out the drinks as the players celebrated. Can't wait to see her next year.

1 goal in the first 6 games, then 8 goals in the next 6.

I think she just turned 21, all the Port articles are wrong. DOB Sept 2003.
