Fair points Surkin but Dore is a key foward. GOOD CHF's are there to kick goals as well as provide a marking target eg. The Duck, Browney, Pavlich, Riewoldt, Chris Grant etc

Dore single handly won NNG the game Vs Dusties. was a very impressive unit. Offers far more than any standard CHF from what i saw when dusties played NNG

Surely you are just trying to stirr the pot smiling dr??...

Dorey would have been in the first 5 picked in the squad!

I wouldnt take a huge amount out of who gets named in the best each week. Im sure that at most of the top sides it gets shared around more often than not....

Not stirring the pot at all. He can play, has dominated, has won games but for someone rated so highly, he hasn't done it often enough. Sweeney has just as many credentials as Dore (in their 1st year back in EDFL) but he wasn't picked was he. And I know yes, Sweeney has proven to be poor in comparison.

I actually reakon Surkin make a good point that he would be right at home in a better standard of football. Hope he goes well. I think he would better suited to FF, great mark and moves well. In a rep side someone else could cover his spot at CHF but he would have to push a gun FF (in the state) out to a pocket or something like that.

I reakon Burst, that you could put a few more thru the big sticks at CHF. Good players kick goals, especially fowards.

At Nyora during the B2Back years, that fat slob Chris Langley(poor bloke and footballer) kick 50+ goals (good supply) from CHF. As well as Osler kicking a 100+.

Last paragraph is hilarious.

I think it was worse last year. Nyora, Ellinbank and Buln were all terrible.

This year longwarry are average but the rest of the teams on their day can push anyone, Nilma V Dusties last week, Nilma V Garfield, Ellinbank Drew Dusties, Nyora should have beat CL.

Onetheburst, i see you guys play against the major victorian league team, that would be an interesting game.

Surely the major team would win.

Certainly haven't picked all the best players from NGFNL suited to that standard of football.

Does anyone know the selection criteria?? Do you have to nominate etc etc?

I can't believe some of the stuff i've just read. I particularly enjoyed the bits about Wade and Dore not being consistent enough. Ha ha that's hilarious! I'm assuming these assumptions are based on the best players lodged in the papers each week? If so, rookie mistake fellas.

Wadey is the most consistent player at the club and one of the most consistent players i've seen in footy. He hasn't missed a game for NNG in 4 years, and as Surkin said he hasn't finished outside the top 2 in the B & F in that time. He would kick a lot more goals from the midfield if needed. Same as big Dorey. He could kick a lot more goals if played out of the square every week or if it was a requirement for the team. He's an extremely unselfish footballer. Obviously, they take goals when they come, but without being on the inner sanctum of the team or match committee you would have no idea what roles they are designated within the side.

To say Dorey has been picked on reputation rather than form is an insult to the big fella as well. He's missed a bit of footy this year, but in close to all of the games he has played, he's been very very good.

Both players will be well and truly good enough to play at that level. Good luck boys.

Gee you took that bait plugger, i mean tumble!

they probably still aren't good enough.

Probably.

I can't think of any players that could get a game for the minor league state team. When I think of it i can't even think of anyone from the NGFNL that could possibly get a game in any of the Ellinbank sides.

Please forgive me I have underestimated the EDFL and in particular your wealth of knowledge of all players playing football in the Gippsland region. As you are a far travelled human being who has witnessed many if not all games that have proceeded over the sparce region that is Gippsland in 2010.

Finals Venues Announced:

Saturday August 28 Bunyip

Sunday August 29 Koo wee rup

Saturday September 4 Garfield

Sunday September 5 Nar Nar Goon

Saturday September 11 Longwarry

Saturday September 18 Cora Lynn

Good choices for the main games.

Bunyip surface was absolutely stuffed when we played there about 6 weeks ago though. Don't think it holds the wet weather that well and wouldn't want to be playing a final there if it rained a bit in the week leading up to the match. Great spot to watch the footy, surface the only question.
