I'm perfectly balanced as all things should be.

Greens last, One nation second last, LNP next, ALP one spot above. Then the rest.

What do you view as centrism?

Tilt your head to the right and everything you see will be traveling in that direction. You can't be helped.
i think a "true centrist" is someone who looks beyond party politics and assesses things based solely on the facts that they are presented with. i can't ever really recall you doing that except when it's done by right wing figures.

This autism argument has to stop - it’s a talking point devised to shame someone for saying he did the nazi salute. It’s not a symptom of autism and is quite insulting for those with autism or care for those with autism.
Indeed. I have an autism spectrum disorder myself, as does my husband, and neither of us would even dream of doing an action such as muskrat did.

That voting is just a donkey vote with extra steps

I agree, whilst some centrists claim that it's being in the middle of two points.

In reality it's as you said, being open to a political position regardless of its source

There's no such thing as a true centrist. You're showing your own bias.

We swing to wherever politics favor our values and pockets.

Nothing evolved has ever posted about the views he holds makes me think he’s a centrist.

If you think the far-right is more welcoming, that’s fine, but it’s probably because they hold views more inline with yours. If ‘the left’ seems intolerant, it might just be because you’re not a centrist.

For the sake of the hypothetical though, if the far left and far right are both agreeing Musk did a fascist gesture, you can probably assume the centrist position is ‘Musk did a fascist gesture’.

Netanyahu and the ADL have both said it wasn't a nazi salute.

Surely their assessment carries more weight than the cesspools of collective groupthink that exist on leftist socialmedia circles.

Well I’d say they are probably rethinking it being that yesterday he spoke at a neo Nazi rally.

He’s really gone out of his way to make the chuds defending the indefensible look like …… well… chuds…

Greeted with loud cheers, Elon Musk virtually delivered a short speech Saturday at a rally for the far-rightAlternative for Germany (AfD) party, where he urged the crowd to not be ashamed of their country’s history.
Musk’s appearance comes amid debate over whether a gesture he made twice during an inauguration rally was a Nazi-style salute, which he denies. He was introduced by Alice Weidel, the AfD’s candidate for chancellor. At the rally in Halle, Musk encouraged the roughly 4,500 attendees to be proud of their German heritage.>>>

For those of you that don’t know - the AFD is the modern face of neo nazism in Germany - zero political parties in Germany - on the left OR right will do deals, assist or form any coalition with them. They are entirely on their own as you know….

……The Germans might just know a thing about Nazis….

Anyhoo,

There’s a video of his salutes vs hitler - and of course at the end is his gesture a while ago where he sent his heart out to people. Chucked one of Kamala in there too.

i think true centrism can exist, just not when beholden to the irrationality of politics and the mob mentality that's encouraged by it.

i'm not a centrist, and you're certainly not one.

It's not about it genuinely being some sort of autistic affect, it just gives him plausible deniability and the right wingers can divert attention from it with the faux outrage that old Apartheid Clyde is the true victim in this.
We all owe Elmo a written apology so we can heal in unity. Apparently

I wouldn't trust the SRP to define centrism.

The far left and far right agreeing on something does not make it true by any means. It just means the extremities see things the same way - how do you feel about horseshoe theory?

Whether it was a Nazi salute or an awkward guy doing awkward things is irrelevant.

It’s out there and it’s been perceived as such. Musk could have easily cleared it up and how he feels in one single tweet.

He hasn’t and we have our answer on the person he is and the views he has.

Quoted from his speech at the ADF meeting:

“ I think there’s, frankly, too much of a focus on past guilt, and we need to move beyond that. Children should not be guilty of the sins of their parents ... let alone their great-grandparents, maybe even,” Musk said, in an apparent reference to Germany’s Nazi past."
I see nothing wrong with that at all. He's absolutely right.

Do you consider that white supremacist rhetoric?

Also you need to link to where you are copying this from

Can we simply **** this off.

He had the ability to explain himself and instead he made a joke about it.
In essence he doubled down.

Not sure about you but the autistic people I teach and live with would be horrified and apologise for any confusion whatsoever.
As someone who's neurodivergent with clinically diagnosed ASD, it shits me to tears that people are using the autism excuse for Musk.

Even if he is on the spectrum (and he likely is), he knew exactly what he was doing. As someone who used to stim, I can say first hand that it wasn't some socially awkward gesture or stim.

ASD is irrelevant, he's a campaigner because he's a campaigner.
