It might look like a poor game to the most of you; however this one has the potential to be quite entertaining. Two teams that are desperate for the win, and both were very much improved last weekend.

Stoke City came from behind to steal the show at home against Aston Villa, as a Robert Huth’s 90th minute strike gave them a narrow victory over their midland rivals. It was Stoke’s first points of the season and they’ll be hoping it kick started their campaign.

West Ham still yet to pick up a point; however they performed admirably against Chelsea on the weekend. They’ll be looking to cut-down on simple defensive errors though, as they have been costly so far.

Last 4 meetings:

27/03/2010 – West Ham 0-1 Stoke City
17/10/2009 – Stoke City 2-1 West Ham
02/05/2009 – Stoke City 0-1 West Ham
28/12/2008 – West Ham 2-1 Stoke City

Odds: Stoke $2.00 Draw $3.40 West Ham $3.75

Villa have been poor, and suffered defeat away at Stoke on Monday night after conceding twice in the last ten minutes, hardly the conclusion to his managerial spell that McDonald would've wanted. One thing that is concerning for Villa fans is that they have leaked goals this season, and in previous seasons their defensive record has been one of their strengths.

Bolton went down 4-1 at Arsenal, however two of those goals were scored after Gary Cahill received a very soft red card, and before that they were competitive. Bolton have since appealed the red card, however the FA upheld the players three match ban and he’ll be unavailable for this one Owen Coyle has got Bolton playing a good brand of football (quieten down Arsenal fans), and they will be going to Villa Park thinking that the three points are there for the taking here.

Aston Villa have put 13 goals past Bolton in their last 3 meetings at Villa Park, but I don’t think that trend will continue here.

Blackburn have picked up just one point from their last three matches, however those matches have come away at Birmingham and Man City, as well as Arsenal at home. They’ve been competitive in all four of their matches so far this season and look hard to beat.

Mark Hughes and his Fulham team have had a very promising start to the season and remain undefeated after four matches. They had a good win in their last match against Wolves – however that came at a cost, with striker Bobby Zamora set to be out for four months with a broken leg.

Last 5 meetings:

26/11/2009: Fulham 3-0 Blackburn

Everton came back miraculously last time out against Manchester United to snatch a point, and that bodes well going into this game against a Newcastle side who suffered a very disappointing defeat at home against Blackpool last time out.

Everton arestill way down in 19th though, with only two points to their name in the first four rounds. Their start hasn’t been particularly hard either so their fans will be slightly concerned. David Moyes and Steve Round have been fined by the Football Association for their reaction at the end of the last match against Manchester United.

Newcastle had started the season very brightly; however their 26 unbeaten home game record came to an abrupt halt with a 2-0 defeat against Blackpool last week. There were some bright signs though, as they created plenty of chances and if not for a man of the match display from Blackpool keeper Matt Gilks, they might have won it. Hatem Ben Arfa also looked promising when he came on off the bench.

Last 5 meetings:

22/02/2009: Newcastle 0-0 Everton
05/10/2008: Everton 2-2 Newcastle
11/05/2008: Everton 3-1 Newcastle
07/10/2007: Newcastle 3-2 Everton

Tottenham have had an indifferent start to the season, with 5 points from their first 4 matches, including a disappointing 1-1 draw at West Brom last week. Fortunately for them, most of the other teams vying for a top four spot had a disappointing week last week so they didn’t lose too much ground. They’ll be going into this one viewing it as a must win though.

Wolves have the same record as Spurs, and are looking a difficult proposition. They went down disappointingly 2-1 at Fulham last time out though, after leading 1-0 at half time.

Tottenham didn’t fare well against Wolves last season though, with Wolves winning both games 1-0.

Last 2 meetings:
11/02/2010: Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 Tottenham
12/12/2009: Tottenham 0-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers

This midlands derby looks set to be a cracker, with both sides in very good form. These sides haven’t met since 2006.

West Brom have had a very promising start to the year performance wise, barring a 6-0 thrashing at Chelsea. They’ve had a difficult start to the season and they’ve come out of it with four points, which they’ll be very pleased with.

Birmingham held Liverpool to a draw last time out – and were perhaps unlucky not to win, with Pepe Reina having a blinder. If the keep up their current performance level they will be eyeing up a top half finish.

Last 5 meetings:

28/10/2006: Birmingham 2-0 West Brom

Sunderland are currently on 5 points, with a win, 2 draws and a loss to their name. Gyan got the Sunderland fans excited last week with a goal on debut. Their performances have been inconsistent so far this season, and it wouldn’t be too surprising to see them get a result here.

Arsenal have had a fantastic start to the season, however this is probably their hardest game so far. They usually don’t play well when they have to go to places like Sunderland, however their fans will be confident that an in-form Fabregas can work some magic and get them a victory.

Arsenal has failed to win at Sunderland in the last 2 seasons.

Last 5 meetings:

20/02/2010: EPL Arsenal 2-0 Sunderland

This one looks like the match of the round, however if Liverpool don’t improve their performance level it could be anything but.

Manchester United sit in 3rd spot on the table, but will be slightly concerned that they keep giving up leads late in matches. They will also be without Antonio Valencia, who suffered a very nasty leg break against Rangers in mid-week.

Liverpool have been absolutely awful to start the season. Their performances have been average and only have Pepe Reina to thank for not losing to Birmingham last weekend. They will need a much better performance here, or things could get ugly.

Wigan have had a pretty bad start to the season, but two good results against Tottenham and Sunderland have their fans slightly more positive. They will be hoping to cause an upset at home against Man City.

Man City have been disappointing to start the season, with their last two games behind a defeat against Sunderland a draw against Blackburn. They will need to improve here otherwise they’re in danger of falling off the pace early.

Last 5 meetings:

30/03/2010: Man City 3-0 Wigan

Chelsea are living up to their tag as premiership favourites, but they’re yet to play a good team and once again they face a team that isn’t considered by most to be good. They’ve won all 4 games, scoring 17 goals and conceding just 1 in the process so far.

Blackpool had a very good 2-0 win away at Newcastle last week, and their start to the season has been exceptional. Many predicted them to be the new Derby County – but they already have 7 points, and amazingly sit in 4th place in league.

These sides have never played each other in a competitive match.

Odds: Chelsea $1.10 Draw $10.00 Blackpool $21.00

TV: Fox Sports 3, 1:00am AEST

Fantastic_crows’ prediction: Chelsea 4-0 Blackpool

Houllier wasn't in charge.

So it wasn't a debut.

Hardly the conclusion McDonald would've wanted would be more accurate.

Ah okay.

I figured Houllier was in charge since he'd been there for 4 or 5 days.

very nice fc, might want to start include the table after this round.

I included a link to it last round. Completely forgot about it this time. Will edit OP.

Here are my predicted squads for the big game:

Man Utd:
VDS
Neville - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra
Fletcher - Scholes - Webb - Giggs
Nani - Berbatov - Rooney

Liverpool:
Reina
Johnson - Carra - Skrtel - Agger
Spud Lucas - Gerrard
Haxi - w***er Cole - Jova
Torres

Referee: Sir Alex Ferguson.

Prediction: Man Utd 2-0 Liverpool.

Gary Cahill's red card wasn't soft, was deserved... I think this is the first Man U vs Liverpool game since god knows when that its bigger on paper than the actual pitch. I really hope Liverpool can at least give them a game

Stoke 2 - 0 West Ham
Aston Villa 1 - 1 Bolton
Blackburn 1 - 1 Fulham
Everton 2 - 2 Newcastle
Tottenham 3 - 2 Wolves
WBA 0 - 1 Birmingham
Sunderland 1 - 1 Arsenal
Manchester United 3 - 0 Liverpool
Wigan 0 - 2 Manchester City
Chelsea 5 - 0 Blackpool

I wasn't sure about Gary Cahill's card, definitely thought there was a challenge later that warranted a red which got nothing at all except an injury

Stoke 1 - 0 West Ham
Aston Villa 1 - 1 Bolton
Blackburn 2 - 2 Fulham
Everton 2 - 0 Newcastle
Tottenham 3 - 0 Wolves
WBA 1 - 1 Birmingham
Sunderland 1 - 2 Arsenal
Manchester United 3 - 1 Liverpool
Wigan 0 - 1 Manchester City
Chelsea 436,701,058 - 0 Blackpool

Tough game for Arsenal. Luckily Cattermole isn't playing because I could have pictured him breaking Fabregas' leg.

Hopefully Cesc keeps is sublime form up.

Stoke 1 - 1 West Ham
Aston Villa 2 - 0 Bolton
Blackburn 2 - 1 Fulham
Everton 2 - 2 Newcastle
Tottenham 3 - 1 Wolves
WBA 1 - 1 Birmingham
Sunderland 0 - 2 Arsenal
Manchester United 1 - 1 Liverpool
Wigan 1 - 2 Manchester City
Chelsea 29 - 0 Blackpool

Why hasn't anyone picked Manchester United 99 - 0 Liverpool?
Especially since it will be 12 vs 11 and its only 9 if you don't count Cole and Gerrard since they are so invisible during our matches. So 12 vs 9 mediocre players means we will lose close to that amount.

8 because we have Mitch at RB.
7 because we have Poosen passing back to Cawwa
6 because we have Lucas passing back to Cawwa
5 because we have Cawwa
4 because we have The Pokemon
3 because we have Konchesky
2 because we have a very shit Nando.

The random things you can find out thanks to Google.

While this is first league meeting since 1977, Blackpool actually won 3-1 on their last trip to Stamford Bridge back in 1996, admittedly only in the League Cup.

So as I said, never played each other in a competitive match :p

Didn't realise they'd played each other in 1977. Obviously the site I use for the history between the teams doesn't go back that far.
