I may be misreading your comment but I don't see much wrong in the Cattery. They just won a Premiership, were gifted pick #7 and a player and they have another player wanting to stand out so that he can join them. It is Collingwood who have a problem as they have to deal with a player who is prepared to stand out of footy rather than stay at their club.
Geelong have the best go home factor in the Comp.
Each year thay track where their star Geelong Falcon kids get drafted (and then come knocking in a few years).

Likely true, point is, they could walk away with pick 15 and Henry for 7. That's a pretty good play. They're being stubborn at the trade table and I hope they lose out as a result.

Henry would be nervous to go into the draft and nominate his contract terms. If he puts too many years on it another club could absorb it and he's stuck there for years. Getting all the way to the premiers in the PSD wont be easy.

I'm glad they haven't because they fact that they haven't benefits us, but the Cats really should just give up their 2023 1st for Henry and be done with it. That's fair value.

Hasn't Andrew Mackie done enough already to damage Port? Just let Esava go, you campaigner.

I don't think they have a future 2nd or 3rd so they can't trade future 1st. Which was probably intentional

They might not be able to, how many have they given away in last 4 years?

Edit JakeNeadeFan is also saying they might not be able to because of future 2nds and 3rds as well.

They're in a shitty trading spot. Ridiculous they can keep bringing in so much.

[Browne] Henry has told Pies coach Craig McCrae he isn’t re-signing / not coming back. Sources suggest the Pies are willing to walk him.
Hope this happens, Dunkley and Henry in the PSD, both hoping to get through to Pick 15-18, would be entertaining. It's about time a club called the bluff of these boys and took them before they got to their club of choice.

If not another club, Collingwood could take Henry before Geelong and so could WB before Bris.

The question would be who would you make room for if they both slid to us.

Before posting potential trade offers, it would be helpful if you understood who had what future picks they could trade AND how many draft picks the club require for this years draft.

Geelong can not trade their future 1st, nor have any need for late picks this year - Mackie has stated that they will be only taking two picks to the draft - Pick 7 and at this stage Pick 58

Also, if Geelong were willing to split Pick 7 they would not need to involve GWS- they could just accept Collingwood's offer of Henry and Pick 16 for Pick 7

I think the Ratagolea trade gets done. I think Geelong would prefer a future pick over Pick 33, unless they needed to package that up with Henry.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Clark focus is a bit of a furphy, and Geelong look to get Busslinger with Pick 7 - which I think might suit our list needs more - especially if Ratagolea is traded out.

Holmes, Parfitt, Bowes and O'Connor are already younger mids who are established at AFL level, and Bruhn, Knevitt, Stephens and Willis are a good bunch still developing, with the older crew of Blicavs, Guthrie, Atkins and Menegola still having a few years left.. there might not be any 'big' names in there, but Geelong's strength is their ability to rotate their mids and keep them fresh, not a reliance on 2-3 superstars (though the older crew of Selwood, Dangerfield and Smith are/were guns, they are not required to play large minutes on-ball in our system).

Hawthorn has expressed an interest in young Geelong midfielder Cooper Stephens as we approach the AFL trade deadline.

It is not expected that the Cats would demand the world in a trade for him given their dominant trade period to this point and Stephens’ desire to play regular football.

While there’s a chance he could be in brown and gold by the end of the day, both the Cats and Hawks will be busy elsewhere.

Geelong is attempting to bring home Ollie Henry from Collingwood, while dealing with Port Adelaide on an Esava Ratugolea trade.

Hawthorn meanwhile could trade out midfield pair Tom Mitchell and Jaeger O’Meara.

Stephens played seven games in 2022 and is contracted for next season.

Thanks for clearing that up for us…

If we could afford him and not end up pushing out one of our younger very promising players, Dunkley in a heartbeat. I like Henry a lot but add Dunkley into our midfield and we finally have current depth for now and the future.

Wines needs help as that big inside/out mid. Drew may get there but Dunkley is a right now answer.
Will lessen the expectations on JHF as he evolves his game.
