To be fair, Duursma will be entering his 6th season next year and really hasn't come on at all like we thought after the first year or two.

He has been injured but doesn't look like a player that would ever be a top 5 maybe even top 10 player in a top 6 side.

Not in a weak draft, I reckon it will be a future second if no players are involved, and the pick will end up around the same mark anyway.

Our people should get fired into the sun if they have to give up a future 2nd for a fringe uncontracted player



Here is the market as teams have set for us

Hombsch 4th rounder
Austin 4th rounder
Frampton 4th rounder
Howard equivalent to around pick 30.

And port fans don’t expect we will do any better than a 4th rounder for contracted clurey if he moves.


Esava is NOT worth remotely as much as a younger and contracted Howard was worth when we traded him.

He’s closer in value to the others I named. An early 3rd rounder such as freos should be more than enough.

37 could be argued is more than we should be parting with for an ooc player, but could understand if we decided to part with it to be nice and got back some usable draft picks to help in other trades.

A future 2nd should be well well off the table.



Now, what will port actually do? Who the **** knows. There’s a mandate from above to play nice at the trade table to show we are a team that can get trades done to be appealing to players as a destination.

Rubbish. Of course we need next years second. Having f/sons doesn’t mean they come for free, and it doesn’t mean you automatically lose those seconds either.

We have no idea where those f/son prospects will end up.

We don’t know who might be available for trade next year that we could use the picks for.

I do know that our reserves were ****ing skint for young talent this year and we need to have more kids coming through.

And we know you can trade second rounders at any time even if a bid gets placed on a father son. You can trade it out after the bid.

This whole idea that picks are disposable when you’ve got f/sons on the radar is bizarre to me.
