What’s the context to this ?
To assist one of our trades ?
On the surface trading it out hurts the threat to get Esava in the draft.
No ****ing way is Soldo worth a 2nd rounderPick 25 and Freo F2 to Rich for Soldo and P29.
29 draft Esava.
GC hold 27 and 28 so they will be used matching, Carlton have 26 who won’t be interest in Esava.
No further risk in moving a couple spots back and get both Soldo and Esava.
No ******* way is Soldo worth a 2nd rounder
3 is a good point. Would be a win for us to decrease the number of deep draft picks we take this year. The more I think about it, the more taking him with pick 25 seems like a win all round.
1. It's what we're spending anyway
2. Geelong get nothing
3. It counts as one of our 3 draft list changes, so one less end of draft likely list clogger.
4. It'll set a good precedent for future years - our nice guys at the trade table reputation is hurting us.
Best of all, it's Geelong who has come across unreasonable. There'll be some media backlash, but I think we'll get some positivity out of it too.
Problem is, we don't take it off the table because that sort of petulance turns off future recruits. Esava wouldn't have nominated us without us giving a commitment we will put our best and fairest offer on the table. Taking it off reflects on us a bit. Of course the concept is totally valid, **** Geelong, but still for Esavas sake we need to stay the course with what is a totally fair and actually overs offer.Happy with the draft but Im still annoyed that 24 was offered and that we haven't formally taken it off the table yet. Use it for Soldo and offer the Cats 38 already.
Geelong is the only club Esava should have any angst towardsProblem is, we don't take it off the table because that sort of petulance turns off future recruits. You are right but relationships are started on reputations and reputations are built on actions. If we headhunt an employee and they commit then we should honour that respective of gain over opponent. By walking him to favourable terms is already a yuck foo to the cattery.Geelong is the only club Esava should have any angst towards

With live pick trading another team could trade up to 27 or 28. So if Esava is still available then and a team missed an earlier player they could get him before us. It's all a risky play.Pick 25 and Freo F2 to Rich for Soldo and P29.

Sounds like he was trying to throw Cripps under the bus"Right now we haven't been able to break the impasse with Geelong, and we have 36 hours to make it happen." - Chris Davies on Esava Ratugolea
That's a pretty passive way of saying we will be trying to bend over
Should have said "We have presented a fair and reasonable trade to Geelong and we are waiting for Geelong to come to the table"
We've worked hardery, now we need to work longery"Right now we haven't been able to break the impasse with Geelong, and we have 36 hours to make it happen." - Chris Davies on Esava Ratugolea

Should have said "We have presented a fair and reasonable trade to Geelong and we are waiting for Geelong to come to the table"
There's nothing 'sure' about that whatsoever. Why do people keep giving these ****ing losers the benefit of the doubt? Remember when we surely wouldn't be giving up our future first rounder? That's a disappointing comment from CD. But hopefully it's just him trying to take the high road publicly.
Surely to Geelong we've said a fair offer has been made. It's up to you now.
CD is alive!!!"Right now we haven't been able to break the impasse with Geelong, and we have 36 hours to make it happen." - Chris Davies on Esava Ratugolea

Then that's exactly the message that he should be emphasising. What he actually said is 'just keep holding out Geelong, it's our responsibility to get this done, and you'll extract a little bit more out of us if you just sit there and wait'. Pissweak. There's nothing more Davies need say when he knows all media commentators have said Port's offer is more than reasonable.
