I honestly think clubs convolute these deals with meaningless add ons just so they can’t be directly measured on the outcomes.

The "Mackie is a list management newbie trying to make a statement" thing may be a tad simplistic. Possibly there is more going on than just poor negotiation from us receiving dick waving in return from him. Geelong also know our level of need for KPD, and that our "alternative" is dealing with Dodoro and Duursma-angst. Geelong may actually care less about pick 24 than about likely herding Rat towards somewhere less likely to hurt them.

Yeah maybe you’re right, we’re probably not exactly top of mind for Geelong. They’ve probably forgotten that we beat them in finals in 2020 and 2021, just as Hawthorn have probably forgotten how we had an odd habit of beating them in the minor round in their premiership seasons. Premierships will do that for ya

How small must Mackie’s Dick be that he needed #72 in a future draft to save face? From outright rejection of #24 and a bunch of tough talking in the media to accepting #25 and slim lined salad dressing three days later!

Seriously, I never thought a club would increase their negotiation reputation by hiring Dodoro, but that is a real option for Geelong now.

This deal would have been agreed before day 1. I said a few days ago, this is purely for media dramas and to keep people engaged. Making it look like a future 4th has been added to give it any credence that it wasn't already sorted.
