Looks like it has happened with Shiel being dropped
I saw a news snippet of some gutter journo ambushing him on the way to training on the day he was dropped.

'Dylan, how do you feel about being dropped? What did the coach say you need to work on?'.

Don't really approve of doorstop interviews but was interested in the response.

Dylan was quiet for a few seconds and then came out with something like 'it really stings. The whole club needs to do better running both ways, everyone has room for improvement'.

He didn't say the usual 'I need to improve my defensive running, I need to get back to basics, the coaches gave me some things work on'.

Maybe I am reading too much into this. Maybe Dylan isn't great at answering impromptu questions. But it seemed to me that Dylan resented being dropped and doesn't agree with the coaches.

When you drop a star player, IMHO it only has a positive impact when that player accepts the decision and responds with what you wanted to ignite in them. Seems less effective if the player isn't on board with it.

It's also not so effective when he plays the next game anyway.

It was an empty statement by the Essendon match committee.

Bear with me a sec on this one...

I reckon we ought to offer Dodo a 4th rounder for Shiel.

It's not that I want him, just want to rub their noses in it after they paid two first rounders for him. Worth a 4th rounder just for the look of it.

No thanks. * might say yes.

Are you saying Stringer is the scum equivalent of Jarrad Waite?
Plays their best in a contract year?

I'm worried for *. Slobbo has gone whack in his article which is concerning as it shows their mouthpiece is losing faith, and we know how * need to be the media darlings. I want them to be just as they are? Is that selfish of me?

Might be worthwhile going into his article and voting that * should retain Rutten (currently 20% yes)... we know how much the * board rely on these things to help them make decisions.

Some quotes (https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/...news-story/52777eb191cb82d5421512c39f5ea02e);

More pressing, the review could uncover why Archie Perkins and Nik Cox have fallen away in their second years, and why Nick Hind has disappeared.

Further to that, whatā€™s happened to Jordan Ridley, why does Jake Stringer get injuries and takes weeks to get himself right, and why does recruit Jake Kelly look like heā€™s been ā€œEssendon-edā€?

Essendonā€™s best player this year is Peter Wright. Its next best is Nic Martin. He arrived at the club in January. Has the instinct not been coached out of him yet?

In the past would've been.. Nik and Archie are suffering 2nd year blues, Injuries due to them going in hard, and "Essendon-ed".... big worry.

The calls for Hird to return could be bubbling. Imagine the dribble coming from Slobbo's mouth.

I hope they go that path. He was a terrible coach. * best year of late was the year he was suspended. Hird only really had decent results with Bomber Thompson holding his hand or with juiced up players.

Derm and his undisguised contempt and dislike for all things Essendon makes him a champ in my book !

Slobbo wants them to do a full review šŸ¤£
Funny how last year Robbo and Gerard were slamming us for conducting a review mid season. Crying out for months about how undue pressure was placed on the coach and players by the review.

Now the same hypocrites are calling for a similar whole footy department review at round 7 when itā€™s a club they actually care about.

To be fair, Slobbo has been scathing of * for over a month now, he is many things, but you canā€™t accuse him of being hypocritical or an apologist over their disaster of a season

I posted this in a group chat before the start of the season full of Carlton, Collingwood and scum supporters as preseason bet options for a laugh.

As you can imagine the derision was palpable yet very funny.

I only wish Iā€™d put a lobster on it myselfā€¦

Anyway, when theyā€™re 1-10 in a months time Iā€™ll quietly just drop it in againšŸ¤£
