They have a poll on their board for who they want as coach...guess who's winning!?
What's even more telling is it's a supporter base divided. This is just a recipe for disaster.

You would think so, but not really, especially after the bitter circumstances in which he left Collingwood.

He was just motivated to coach us for money and break Jock Mchale's coaching record

Our board at the time is as bad and delusional as *'s is now, and I couldn't be more delighted. Long may those idiots reign at Tulla Lawn Bowls club:)

By that timeline that gets them to at least 26 years without a finals win.

Imagine you are running a reputable and long-standing accountancy firm A+Taxes.
You have a star accountant who is a loyal employee and has a proven record at managing customer tax returns.
He gets promoted to lead accountant and subsequently appoints a number of new accountants without undertaking transparent processes. These new customer-facing accountants, under the watchful eye of the lead accountant, find "new" ways to improve tax time outcomes for clients.
Unfortunately, the new methods are are not legal - or at the very least unethical and other accountancy firms start asking questions about why A+Taxes is having more success.
So the CPA association conducts an investigation. They are aghast at what they find. Ultimately the lead accountant, they find, has at the very least been derelict in his duties and, at worse, was complicit in the unethical and illegal practices.
So the lead accountant is sacked and his reputation at the firm and within the industry itself is in ruins.
Seven years later, A+Taxes has a vacancy for a new lead accountant.
As the operator of A+Taxes, would you consider the former lead accountant for your vacancy?

Normal people...No. Delusional/morally corrupt people...Yes. Guess which category A+ Dopers...I mean * fall into?

So it seems that the four candidates are Hird, Yze, Lade and Dean Solomon.

Hardly a Melbourne cup field. More like a maiden at a non tab meeting.

And the industry body (in this case the AFL) are just sitting on their hands - nothing to see here.

Yze as senior coach, Hird as senior assistant to lend some senior coaching experience ;)

You just know it makes sense. Because it makes no sense. And that's how that sh*tstain of a club operates.
You'd get the same if Hird was head coach and Yze assistant... we all know it was Bomber who was coaching them the first time around. Hird's ego couldn't take being seen as an assistant at the *

Yeah, but they'd avoid some of the "bad optics".

Could play it as following their process, picking the best candidate, not being seduced by the romance of a Hird return, but compromising a little and ticking the "experience" box with Hird as senior assistant to support Yze. Conveniently puts Hird in the hot seat if Yze doesn't get quick results, or gets managed out by the backstabbing board. Hird takes over mid-season at some point and becomes the natural senior coach after a dead cat bounce that gets played as a rejuvenation of the club.

I still don't think Hird gets the senior coach gig this year, unless all the other candidates bail on their applications. But I do think they'll try to get him into a position where he is next in line.

So have any of the Banned 34 come out and said Hird was a good coach and they support him coming back to the club?
That's the next stage of the media managed process. Most likely the other big cheat- Jobe. Not that we will understand him, because I can't when he's doing special comments.

If what Hird over saw what happened at * in the corporate world he wouldā€™ve been struck off, defrocked, debarred.., jail even, never to practice in that industry again.

So the answer is no

In fact a recent translation of Jobe's mumblings were about it not being a good idea for Hird to return,

Watson said the club had to look to the future and stop living in the past.

ā€œI donā€™t see how that would work,ā€ Watson said on Channel 7 after being asked about speculation Hird could be installed as Essendonā€™s 2023 coach.

He will get the memo eventually. He's probably already received it but considering it's written in English, he maybe struggling to decipher it.

How is this being allowed to happen?

There are fresh draftees to enter that club this year. How can they and their parents trust that Essendon won't do precisely the same thing again?

How can Essendon people - whoever they are - countenance bringing him back, demonstrating that they've learnt nothing?

How can the AFL stand by and allow things to even get this far?

What coaching has Hird done since 2015? What has he done with his time to lead anyone to believe he's shown some form of penitence or contrition, that they're never a bad loss to Carlton away from doing it again? What makes them think that he'll even be any good at the gig?

This whole sequence of events is truly beautiful šŸ˜ āœØ
