Didn't he have five opponents in the first half?

But you have to admit, he's a great pick up for us.

That is the best Essendon have ever done out of the umpires.....but for all those who are bleeting about it, these are the sort of decisions that have consistently gone against Essendon for the best part of 4 years.

All those people who have been saying that Bomber Supporters are biased and whingers are the same people complaining about the umpires tonight.

Yes, the Bombers had the better of it tonight. But its about bloody time!

Get McGrath on the ground as well. You should be happy with him.

Yeah, I'm positive that he'll be better than Hulme, Pederast, Clarke or Harford.

For next week:

INS: Walker, McGrath, McCormick, Mott

OUT: Hulme, Prendergast, Clarke, Harford

I would include Davies too if he wasn't suspended. Davies is so, so much better than several of the players that played today.

yeah but for a midfielder, he can't get the ball.

Absolute murder getting to the ground especially into it tonight.

Glad we got the four points. Lloydy needs to reset his radar he should have had at least 6 tonight.

My boy Dyson again showed something, he may give us what rama gave us in 2000 that is some pace, skill and enthusiasm.

I just thought Thornton did enough to unsettle Lloyd on his set shots, ram his body into him when going for goal. You will rarely see Lloyd miss shots like waht he did tonight, but despite getting beaten on the lead, I thought Thornton did very well to quell his influence. His pressure on Lloyd was outstanding.

An overly generous evaluation on Thornton's performance. To say Lloyd's set shot misses could be credited to Thornton is a bit of a stretch.

Yes, but he had to. Remember Thornton was pumped up by Thrawn as the Owner of Lloyd... It wasn't the case tonight. Thortons still got a decent record against Matty though even if Lloyd had kicked straight.

Yes, there were soft frees given, but I believe one of the other umps paid a lot of those.

I didn't really notice McLaren all that much, to tell you the truth. Everytime a free was given I tried to guess which ump paid it, and a lot of the time it wasn't McLaren.

What if, what if... blah blah balh. We should've won against the Roos, we should've beaten an undermanned Geelong in a particular final in 1994. Just move on, will ya?

Well done Essendon. Clearly the better side - I don't know what happened after half time? But what can say is that Johnson was a great pickup for us - most people expected Scotland and Stevens to do well but Johnson? As I have said in the past; Hulme should be dropped. It ****es me of to no end that this hack is playing while better players like McCormick and Davies are left in the VFL picking up BOGs from there. I have always maintained that I have doubts with the recruitment of Clarke and Harford - seems after tonight that I'm still going to be sticking by that.

But I did think that for Bannister as well - but he has proved me wrong and has been great so far.

McPhee seems to love playing against us in recent times - BOG for him. Fletcher did pretty well limiting Fevola although it's fair to say that after half time the ball was rarely moving into the forward line, if at all. And I must mention the performance from Sporn - did a great job on Hird in the first half, and while Hird got more of the pill in the 2nd, Sporn was still quelching his influence. Would've got uglier had Sporn and Thornton not been playing. Didn't matter - the Dons had other options than Hird.

It was funny to see Murphy having a go at the crowd - I thought he didn't do too badly. Will be alright for Essendon with support. I didn't notice Allan that much.

Well West Coast at OO next week... they'll be without their two best ruckman. I reckon we're a chance if we can just stay consistent for four quarters rather than play well in the first half and drop off from there. Fevola would want to improve next week (as with several other players) - I don't see anyone from WC's defense capable enough of stopping him.

Memo to PAgan - get rid of Hulme! I'd rather Franchina (and that's saying something).

Good assessment. Have watched Carlton the last two weeks, and have been impressed in some ways whilst they do have deficiences.

Well done Trent Sporn, probably Carlton's best IMO.

No one deserves that title if not earnt.

Yep, steady on. **** knows, thats a bit over the top.

Actually I was a touch over the top there as well. I shall amend my comments accordingly.

If I were a Carlton supporter I would be mad to the point of wanting my captain to go on TFS, engage in a protracted bitch and character assassination of the umpire in question and do my best to get preferential treatment for the Blues next week when they face up against-er-us, actually, perhaps not.

I think he did pressure Lloyd enough - well, enough to be distracted. Most of those shots at goal he took are usually easy for him. All you need is an opponent that never gives up and tries to mentally unbalance you. I thought that Lloyd's misses were not just due to bad errors, but pressure contributed to those errors. We can say "what if" all we want, but at the end of the day Lloyd only kicked two.

Or the fact you lot crumbled like a packet of used by tim tams in the 3rd quarter. You're skills were appalling. Allan and even Misiti out ran some of your players.

The umpires did not cost you the game, being shyte did.
