Hilarious isn't it.

So does that mean that every single ruck tap ever is technically a throw? Punches only from now on I guess
It is really incredible when you think about the number of throws you see in a game, that one, which Hayden Kennedy did agree was not, was pinged. I wonder if the jumpers had have been reversed would it have been penalized!
I thought, before that incident, that we were getting a raw deal from umpire #2, that call just confirmed it.

And how about the Monfries ( I think it was ) ' non throw ' in last years prelim. They were kicking to the left of screen, he raced passed for the handball receive and Stevie Wonder himself could have picked it for a throw. The player even looked back over his shoulder as he sped away to see if the umpire was going to call it. Play On. Gold.

You win some you lose some though. I never worry about the frees at half time when it is heavily in the oppositions favour, worry more when it is heavily in ours.........always seems to even itself out somehow. And prefer to get them in the back half of the game.

It WOULD be a bloody hard gig umpiring an AFL match - sounds like this one was blatantly wrong on the weekend however. Anyone got any vision or directions to where we can see it?

EDIT- And the claim that had it gone our way it wouldn't have had an impact on the final result...? Are you ******* serious? :drunk:

LOL that was the funniest part of all......a disallowed goal in a close game in the last quarter doesn't impact a game. Where do they find these people.

I agree, Essendon play a disgusting brand of football with their low scoring, high possession borefests.
James Hird was happy to inject his entire playing list with drugs that were either banned or not approved for human testing, I'm confident he doesn't care.

At least Ross Lyon draws the line at using 19 year old kids as guinea pigs.

"In the slow-mo it almost appears like Paul grabs it and throws it out... Fast motion, it looks like a tap... So we can see totally understand the reason he paid a throw in this particular instance."

Wonder where they find these umpires with the ability to see the action unfold in slow motion... o_O
Because unless that umpire does possess that amazing ability then there should have been no doubt it was a tap by their explanation.

EDIT- And the claim that had it gone our way it wouldn't have had an impact on the final result...? Are you ******* serious? :drunk:

That explaination annoys me more than the decisions on the actual day - weak as. Ball sounds like a cracked record

On the reid "push" later they manage to criticize him for he push and westoff for taing, and even discuss lyndsay thomas for good measure. Also ball is on mrp, isnt t a conflict doing this too ? Not full of confidence going forward

Also last week play gets held up so bartel is helped off the ground and fair enough.there is three seconds with no impact on the result.

This week its Hill and lots more time left which obviously have a bearing on the result. Yet they play on while hawthorn is a man down. Wtf ?

Or when our player kicked the ball to a player much closer to goal and is brought back. Missed the set shot, let players were allowed to play on all game.

that is a comment from Joe Public, right?

It's also wrong.

I reckon there's a fair chance that's Argy!
If Joe Public is the Social Litigator...um...yes. I'm surprised she says this. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I would assume you would have to prove a particular substance was injected and that THAT substance is not fit for therapeutic purposes- that is that the substance is actually identified. I've deliberately avoided Argy's arguments on this (because I thoroughly don't agree with them!) In terms of whether it is a gross failure of an employer's duty of care - abso-bloody-lutely

I think the umpire like some mods on some forums wanted to assert some authority (I'm here and every notice I'm here.) It's why we don't give mod duties to children. The umpire in question was young and thought "this is how I stamp my authority on the game and everyone will see I'm doing my job"

If we don't see you doing your job, you're doing your job you moron.

Is number 2 the balding prick? If so, I've noticed him far too much in games, and I make it a habit to try and ignore the umpires and who they are at all times.
That's Troy Pannel I beleive. Horrible umpire.

I have not watched the replay but watching the recovery report video reminded me of Brad Hill's injury. 15 seconds was shown on the clock and the Umpire asked if Hill could get to his feet. Our trainers helped him to his feet and the Umpire called play on effectively leaving us one man short. Should we have called for the stretcher which would stop the game and allow a replacement to come onto the field?
Not sure but I think if you call the stretcher for a head injury then the player has to miss the following week under the concussion rule.
That may just be for whether or not you can use the 20 min concussion sub though.
Just a possibility.

To be fair, they do seem to work us better than most teams. All day we were bombing the ball into the 50 2012 style, no cohesion, no rhythm but even if that is the case Clarko will adapt and the plan Hirdy was circle jerking over will be useless.

Agreed.

Essendon certainly deserve a lot of credit. They have played us very well in the last 2 years.

Geez we've become a lot of whingers on this board.

If we played better = we win. Umpires, time keepers....meh.

No excuses for the way Hawthorn played, very ordinary to say the least but there was a bit against us, injury, dubious umpiring/time keeping, as bad as we were we still should have won the game.

This guy umpired the game that Roughy got done for tripping last year. I think the Melbourne game. He generally sits in our forward line and is absolutely atrocious. Loves giving free kicks to our opposition in our forward line. It's their get out of jail card when he's umpiring. I shudder when he appears on the ground because I know we're going to get a tough time.

Having said all that...we blew a 10 point lead with 100 seconds on the clock...that makes me shudder even more...

Yes. Were were a couple of goals up with five minutes to play. We let ourselves down by allowing ourselves to be put in a position where dubious decisions could affect the result.
