Nine you're spot on.

But how pathetic are these Dees supporters, just like their fellow blues supporters wanting to lose games to secure draft picks.

Disgraceful. Any person wanting there club to lose games should take a hard look at themselves. Fancy not wanting to win games to build some confidence in their young group.

a club who hasn't won a premiership in half a century accusing the equal-most successful club in the league of mediocrity or likely to descend into it.

good one :thumbsu:

Where did I mention the past?

I'm talking about the future, which I perceive to be more important than going over past events over and over. Sure, Melbourne has had a tough time recently, but it is pleasing to see them building towards something for the future. They have gone for a total rebuild this time, and are making a strong effort to ensure that it is done properly. Someitmes you have to go back in order to go forward, and that is what Melbourne has done recently. I believe this to be more appropriate than topping up and hoping to get a reasonable position on the ladder every year. I would prefer the club to endure some short terms pain for long term success.

I agree, but you have to realise that on this board there's a big split between Melbourne posters. I'd say that most of us want to win rather than tank.

I sure do.

That statement was probably misguided, however I seriously believe Sylvia has the ability to be considered among that elite group of players in the future.

Potentially, but after being one of the biggest high draft pick disappointments for many years, just one month of great football its pretty presumptuous to be proclaiming elite status, its easy to fall back into old habits.

I agree. I'm hoping that Sylvia can mirror Steve Johnson, who had undoubted potential but a very disappointing career up until 07 when he had his break-out year.

Sylvia is currently having a break-out year, but he needs to continue in the second half of the season, as well as into the future. Steve Johnson has paved the way. Mind you, playing in a gun side hasn't hurt him.

On a good forward Frawley gets torn to shreads .. he needs to work on his decision making aswell.
And your basing this off? I haven't seen Frawley get beaten overall by his opponent in any game this year. His drive out of the backline has also been fantastic.

I'm not sure you have a great knowledge of Frawley's ability. He has probably been one of Melbourne's better and most improved players this year. He has a great future, and should be an important part of our defence for years to come.

IMO he is another Jared Rivers. But thats my opinion. Goodluck with him though.

Yeah cos one player makes a team. You are a massive idiot.

The way you blokes are talking lately you have the best player in any position on the ground, i'm stunned you have only won one game. Ca't wait for the improvement next year when you aim to double your win count.

Essendon are getting some cheap wins at the moment that will mean nothing in a few years.

Melbourne are at the bottom, but are rebuilding the right way.

So enjoy the meaningless wins while they last.

We will finish well above you next season, and every season in the foreseeable future.

Winning is a far greater way to success than high draft picks, who would you rather be, Geelong or Carlton?

Not every club has the luxury of attaining two elite players through F/S selections. In some cases, clubs really do need to go backwards in order to go forwards. At this point in time, Melbourne is one of those clubs. It will make the satisfaction associated with the good times in the future all the more significant after enduring such a turbulent time over the past couple of seasons.
