It's amazing isn't it?
Look at the Bulldogs, no money, no experience (except Boyd and Murphy) and they're killing it.
That's what I love about AFL, you can win regardless of how well off your club is.

I support Wigan Athletic.

We won the FA cup in 2013 and dropped out of the premier league in the same year.

Now we have dropped out of the Champions league.

Thinking I might need a new team.

All true. Just not as bad as the other 4. ;)
I guess it's not dissimilar to Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood and Richmond having huge followings though?

Success obviously has a lot to do with the size of supporting bases.

Nope, Bruins. I support all Boston sides.
Wrong sport ;)
However, I am also a Bruins fan.
Out of interest, is it because of Happy Gilmore?

Haha, come to Everton.
The very man who won you the FA cup, then got you relegated is at the helm.
The trend would have continued for us if we had have continued in Europe.
Some focus thanks Roberto, please.

In all seriousness, mad props for going for Wigan.

When picking my team back in 2006, it was a toss up between Wigan and Everton. :D

As for the actual topic at hand though, had Hawthorn fallen over the line against us a few weeks back, I'm sure they would have felt the same way we do now.

Close games happen, upsets happen, but if you hold on as we did this weekend, you take the 4 points, pat yourself on the back, and resolve to do better next weekend.

Hopefully.

Thing is though, LFC don't have a budget to spend like the other 4. Destined for 5th or lower or the occasional 2nd like a year ago.

We are Liverpool and yes it gets back to 2005 Istanbul
My son had a bit of an interest in Leeds thanks to Harry Kewell nothing serious but after Istanbul he was hooked.
Joined him up as an International Member about 5 years ago best $40 we pay annually for what we get.
Kids saw them at the 'G' and now have the tickets for Adelaide Oval

It's something we all share

This Klopp situation is certainly going to set a big ****ing cat amongst the pigeons in English football.

I think it will come down to Arsenal, City or Liverpool, with the former the least likely of that trio. I only say that because as we all saw with the Sheedy situation, moving a legend of your club on isn't as straightforward as it seems. Plus if Arsenal win the FA Cup and can spend big now they are debt-free, Wenger could rightly say they are well in the mix for a tilt at the league next season.

City could well go for him, as it is uncertain whether Pellegrini has got his team doing enough in any of the competitions they've been in. The league title should get him some credits to possibly go another season, but it so often doesn't at clubs that are spending big every season. Liverpool are in a similar situation, in that they've underachieved this season, but does Rodgers get credit for last season? I personally think he should, but it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't.

I think Mourinho will be at Chelsea at least another 2 seasons, with winning the CL for them his top proiority by some way. Van Gaal will most likely see out his contract which should see him at Manchester United for another season at least.

So in my humble opinion, Klopp will be at either Manchester City or Liverpool next season.

Have heard musings that Jurgen Klopp wants to coach a big club that isn't currently in Champions League.
Please be Everton!
Imagine that, West Ham, Everton, Aston Villa, Newcastle or Tottenham with Klopp at the helm?

I suspect it'll be Liverpool. Stiff on Rodgers given they're performing about where they should - fifth in the league with the fifth-highest wage bill - after over-achieving last year on the back of one of the world's best players. Billionaire club owners are not renowned for their patience or perspective though, and a Klopp doesn't come along every day.

City are reportedly both not that keen on him, instead angling for Guardiola in a year's time. Nor would Klopp be content with a one-year deal. Pellegrini may see out his contract, or someone of the calibre of Benitez will cover the gap year.

Unless Wenger voluntarily steps away I can't see him at Arsenal either. He's a club legend, and having effectively paid off the stadium himself has earned first pop at spending the proceeds. Equally, Kroenke is more interested in profits that trophies, and Arsenal as-is are performing just fine in that respect.

Of the rest, Tottenham are happy with Poccetino, United have backed themselves into a corner with Van Gaal, and no one else can offer the cash-backing to justify a Champions League calibre coach.

Gee that's tough on Rodgers. I've been supporting Liverpool for 30 years and honestly can't remember seeing them play like they did in 2013/14.

I agree 100% (except I haven't followed them as long as you have ;)) I definitely think he deserves another year. Had just one of the strikers scored even a dozen goals for the season (surely not too much to ask??) then Liverpool would probably be top 4 now and possibly even a Wembley final, which would give this season a completely different complexion.

I fear (for want of a better word) that the possibility of Klopp at Anfield might make the owners think otherwise.

Is there anybody in the Liverpool thread saying that there's still a chance?
Nah we are buggered. :( I think there is still a very slight mathematical chance but it's like after we drew with Crystal Palace last season. Relying on other results that just aren't going to happen.
