I wish he had just retired at the end of last year. Would have ended his career as a Giants legend.
Still is but leaves a bad taste. Going in that one year too long.
Lloyd was able to leave on a high of finals and f/s games made.
Haynes, a legend, didn’t know when it was time.

Whilst I cannot blame Haynes for taking the $, he would have retired as an inaugural one club Giant. I hope for his legacy that he turns it around at Carlton and becomes a regular starter there

IMO last year was a year too long.

And then Carlton still signed him...

I love Nick Haynes and want to stick up for him, he is making it hard for me today though.

I know Taranto is good in tight and wins some contests, but geez he torches it. He is a good solid player, but IMO no star, the main difference between him and XOH is opportunity. If they swapped roles there wouldnt be much between them.

In my long range tipping one of the pre-season selections was how many games would Richmond win, I had 0, gone already!

Cumming, Perryman and Peatling.

None of them lived up to their bigger than we offered monies. Early days, but could prove shrewd.

All solid performers, as we expected they would be, as they were for us.

But if they've freed up $$$ to throw at Finn Callaghan, and in future Darcy Jones, Aaron Cadman etc, then it was the right call.

We've got a very long and well-proven history of letting go who we let go.

Letting Steele walk and picking Shiel over Treloar is probably the big two we got wrong.

Steele is fantastic but we were still WAY overstocked for inside mids. Especially those without a burst of pace. So much so that Hopper and Taranto were let go as well. Not to mention Bruhn and Caldwell.
All good players but I'd take Callaghan, Green and Kelly over all of them individually.

I agree that we've kept most that we NEEDED to keep. Maybe bar Cameron and Hill.

Less said about Bruhn the better

Cameron is still a top player but Jesse has been so good that we haven't really missed him.

As for Bobby Hill, I never rated him when he was here and still don't. I know he's capable of flashy performances (saving one for the GF was smart) but he still has games where he's completely anonymous. To me he's the sort of player who provides icing on the cake when your team is going well, but rarely changes the course of a match on his own. Give me Brent Daniels or Darcy Jones over him any day.
