The Suns, now the Giants....it just sounds like we're trying to copy the Yanks. It's embarassing. If i was a GWS fan, I would rather a dodgy Australian name like the blue tongue lizards or something than the bloody GIANTS.

I don't want Carlton to have to wear "clash" jumpers at all. Get new teams to wear clash jumpers if they want, but Carlton doesn't need to.


GWS guersney is ok. Don't mind the Giants moniker either...after all it is a giant area western sydney...kind of bold using the title of GIANT. ie....It is a massive, giant geographical area.


I watched some of the SF Giants baseball this year and they are orange and black. Orange and black would have been better than orange and grey for GWS...



I guess they couldn't call themselves Western Sydney as that title has already been taken by a rugby team?
Confusion between the boring pommy game and the Australian game in terms of labelling perhaps?



The thing I don't like the most is the style of the "G" on their guernsey...a bit too chunky and doesn't look right.

How theey incorporate Canberra in the permanent jumper is certainly going to be interesting. The canberra times and riot act web sites have questioned how a team named western sydney has any relation to our area, and both the rugby codes have also complained at the money the ACT government has thrown at GWS.

I bet the ACT government will also be concerned at the reaction of Canberra fans to the jersey. However, I would imagine that our Sports Minister would have been told the jumper design and the name/ nicknames before he signed the $26 million funding agreement - which strongly suggests that Barr at least thinks that ACT is represented in the jumper
