Appears there’s no weekly limit at the moment? Unknown Caller is this a feature for this season?

A little surprised to find TOJ back on my list again. Hopefully it’s a case of 3rd time lucky:D
I checked the settings under the league tab, and 1 pick per week has been activated... but maybe you can still use all 5 in the pre season?

TOJ?

Alright so now that we're done with waivers it seems my work is done for a bit. Summary of one of the most radical list overhauls in an off-season that this league has probably seen, because i'm bored. Warning TLDR. The Wombats brought in 24 new players from trades, draft and free agency, 18 of those new players from the 2017 National Draft. 81 players were selected in the real thing, i have 18 of those on my list now. Almost 20%, pretty ridiculous.

Perhaps the smarter thing to do would've been to try and trade in an equal number of 2018 picks but there was so much trash on the list and it takes 2-4 for most players to become prolific fantasy players and i wanted to accelerate the rebuild so 18 rooks it is! I also saw a lot of value towards the end of this draft where picks were cheap. I mostly looked to draft guys who were proven stat sheet stuffers and stayed away from project type players for the most part and was pretty happy with the guys i brought in overall. I think my midfield should be set up from this draft, and i'm sure i'll be making moves come next draft to bring in some extra picks there too. I'm sure a heap of my picks will fail but hopefully half mature into good fantasy players.

The new faces!

Defenders -

J Hunt (Melb) - One of my fav players and while he's better IRL than in fantasy, he's still be a solid better than average fantasy defender with scope to improve. Young and fits the rebuild and will provide me with some warm bodies while my kids are in the gym.

J Lever (Melb) - See Hunt

C Sutcliffe (Freo) - Nothing but a body in a trade, will be great if he gets a game as i need players who will play but will likely be playing in the WAFL and soon find himself in the F.A pool.

A Mcpherson (Ade) - pick 26 - Has great leadership qualities and should be a really good rebounding HBF for a long time if things go to plan.

B Paton (St Kilda) - pick 43 - Guy knows how to find a heap of the ball across half back. Hopefully he slots in next to Coffield down back.

A Schumacher (Carl) - pick 71 - Good user of the footy and found the ball a lot in the TAC cup. Happy to snag him with a late pick.

Midfielders -

LDU (NM) - Pick 2 - Going into the draft i had 3 mids on my list that i saw as long term mids so that was the priority in this draft. Traded pick 1 to grab 2 premier mids and worked out just fine. LDU is a gun and should crush, i'll be very surprised if this one is a bust. Was obv my no1 target and as Jordie said, win win trade.

A Cerra (Freo) - pick 4 - Less form than the other mids at the top end due to injuries but so did Heppell and Selwood. No2 on my board though and hopefully this pick works out and Cerra becomes the A grade mid i think he will. Clark and Brayshaw both safer picks here but coming from a long way back i'm happy to trust my judgement.

Z Bailey (Bris) - pick 14 - This kid looks really good, i have high hopes for him as do Brisbane.

C Maynard (Melb) - Big gamble, may or may not payoff. I think if he cements a place in Melbourne's best 22 he will be a really good fantasy player but there's some really good inside mids in front of him so whether he makes it or not i have not a clue. If he does make it and turns into a player i'll probably end up trading him on to a contender.

W Walker (NM)- pick 29 - Bit of a reach for North but apparently they love him, goalkicking outside mid, perhaps a bit of a project but should be good.

D Moore (Haw)- pick 41 - I reached a bit here and should've picked a forward in hindsight here but wasn't sure if Moore would make it to the 50s. Prolific at TAC cup level despite his size and Hawks need a midfield. Interesting to see how this kid goes after a few summers in the gym full time.

J Patmore (PA) - pick 42 - Prolific outside mid, probably a few years before he's a chance at breaking into that Port midfield.

H Brayshaw (WC) - pick 53 - This was one of the few picks i wasn't happy with as i def should've picked a forward here but hopefully Brayshaw#3 makes it. Stuffs 9 cat if he does.

M Crowden (Freo) - pick 57 - Gets a lot of the ball and Fremantle need bodies to help Neale & Fyfe, while Cerra & Brayshaw are the 2 big names, this guy and North later on in the draft should improve Freo's midfield depth and hopefully 1 becomes a solid fantasy player

T North (Freo) - pick 85 - Bull inside mid. Good value late.

C Porter (WB) - Random trade with Daisy reaching out to me on this one while he was on the clock looking to swap for Rohan. I missed the message though and then Daisy sniped me with Porter so was happy to trade for him. Dogs like him and he stuffs.

Forwards -

O Allen (WC) - pick 11 - Reached a bit to draft him early but the best KPF that will come out of this draft from a 9 cat perspective i think and really the only forward that was a priority in this draft. Think Tom Lynch. (Ade)

T Garner (NM)- I'd expect his numbers to improve as North improve but still fairly young with scope for improvement. Should provide some of everything stats wise which is nice from a forward and had a big 2nd half of last yr so hopefully he keeps improving.

Z Langdon (GWS)- Mature ager who will hopefully slot straight into Devon Smith's role in year 1.

H Dixon (Freo) - Project KPF, didn't draft many forwards so worth a grab.

Rucks -

S Hayes (PA) - pick 18 - Dual AA ruck and hopefully the best ruck from this draft. Needs to build a tank which is fine because Ryder has a few years left in him yet.

T De Koning (Carl) - pick 44 - They grabbed him at 30 so they obv saw something they liked. Don't have many rucks on the list once Kreuzer hangs up the boots.

B Frampton (PA) - 21 year old who probably won't make it. With me owning Hayes it made sense to grab Port's other main reserve ruck.

If you read all that well done, this ended up super long.

Edit... Forgot to add, #TrustTheProcess

love your work deeman87 !! Solid reasoning and explanation behind it all.

From my end -

Aiden Bonar - Best available. Didn't expect him to be there but was very happy to land him. Going to take a couple of years to trim down but will hopefully end up that Fyfe/Bont style big bodied mid.

Sam Murray - I needed defenders and this guy is going to play. The Pies went after him for a reason and I think he could be a sneaky little ball magnet.

Im aiming to play finals this year. Too long in the wilderness for Team LWP. We have a small clutch of picks next year but our FA picks and trades are going to focus on building a list to challenge in the next couple of years.

Trade -

TW get - Josh Caddy, Wombats 3rd round pick, and Lolorns 3rd round pick
for
LWP get - Sam Reid, Martin Gleeson, Karl Amon, and Wombats 4th round pick

Im delisting Gilbert + Brown

Confirmed. Hopefully Caddy has more impact on my best 22 than these guys would have had, but it is a bit of a risk...

The payoff will hopefully be that I can use wisely the couple of empty list spots to pick up some Free Agents when the time is right, and a couple of extra top 30ish draft picks for next year.

So for now, Team LWP are in front with this trade, but I will be doing my best to ensure I can turn the tables with some astute drafting :p

Yeah. Neither of us thinks Amon or Gleeson will be best 22. They are just better depth for me with Saad and Neade in my squad.

Reid I think will have a big impact. Scoring isn't great for Team LWP so a few big games from Sammy could be the difference in making finals. He should get a heap of opportunity to be that FF/Ruck with Tippett's retirement.

Dow & Clark both looked fantastic.

Having both Reid and Cameron just got better...

For sale, 1 elite bulldog. Putting the Bont on the table, but in no rush to trade him and will hold him til the right offer comes along or for good if it doesn't since he's only 22. Looking for a package of picks and elite kids. Maybe the final piece for those sides looking to try and take the crown off Rockford or make a finals run. Cheers, happy hunting :)

I'd love to get him but holy moly, it's not gonna be cheap haha
You're not wrong. He'll go for a package of kids and picks. But if you're looking to challenge for finals or a premiership he's a difference maker. A guy you can throw the C on who will stuff every Cat except hitouts, he's a premium goal kicking mid who's 22. Just think of the level Dusty went to last year at age 25, Bont has been far better stats wise at such a young age and will only get better and has a good 10 years of footy left. Picks and kids don't win you anything but since I'm committed to the long build they do improve my outlook. Not gonna take Rockford's powerhouse down by not trading for the Bont. ;)

The setting is definitely on. Not sure why it’s not working.
