Just watched the Ric/Perez/Lawson DTS episode. I get that he’s a confident guy and I hope it works out for him but I don’t think that it’s done anything to help Lawson. It’s not entirely his fault or fair but he’s got plenty of people hoping he fails now looking at the reaction to it.

It was already a hot-seat moving into a championship winning car but every mistake he makes is going to get highlighted now. I guess he took the drive knowing a bad season probably makes it his only season in that car so may as well back himself.
Lawson would have been better off waiting for another seat at a better team because the rest of this year will ruin his career.

He's done more than some who are there.

He'll want to improve quick though, or Tsunoda will be having a seat fitting pretty soon.

Red bull hate tsunoda he will go to another midfield team next year. Red Bull will end up needing to poach a good external driver but no such driver is going there while jos is there.

The question is who is going to take him?

The only reason he has a seat at VCARB is because Honda are supplying the team's engines, and are insistent that 1 of the 4 RB seats are filled by a Japanese driver.

Next year Honda will be switching to Aston Martin, who have NEPO baby and Alonso - neither of whom look likely to move.

Where does that leave Tsunoda when the music stops? Quite possibly racing in WEC, or some other category.

Do we think McLaren now backs Lando as No.1 driver from start of the season now? Or do they let them race as equals initially then back the driver that is performing better half way through season.

Did they really let them race though? Oscar right up Lando's clacker, they tell Oscar to hold position, Oscar drops back 3 secs, yep, they're now clear to race.

One of the Aussie guys featured on the Sky F1 Show/Podcast this year sounds incredibly/a bit too much like Hamish Blake (29 mins in video above). Was incredibly distracting listening to this.

The Reserve Drivers is one of my favourite Podcasts, I love Tim’s work on The Cheap Seats too.

The Red Flag Podcast is my other fave.

He will be somewhere despite the temperament he's quality.
I still wouldn't be surprised if alonso retires (yes contract I know) and if he does newey will snap him up.
If not Cadillac looms as an option (I know he's not the driver you want marketing wise for a new team but on track he's good). I wouldn't rule out Sauber or haas if he's prepared to take a step back.

If Alonso retires, then Tsunoda to Aston Martin makes huge sense - given that Honda will be supplying their engines.

If Alonso doesn't retire...

I'm trying to figure out where this poor form comes from in the 2nd seat of a red bull?

My gut feel is the car is so touchy it's borderline undriveable in traffic (for everyone but max).

So it's down to qually to get yourself out of it and it'll be a pressure cooker.

It's 100% that.

Albon has said it, Gasly said it, even Lawson has said it. It takes a super special talent to drive a car as pointy as Max likes it.

Yes but I guess the thing that confuses me is that if we're to believe that DTS episode.. Lawson put in laps under pressure with all eyes watching him to get the seat from Perez.

The only difference really is he was the only car out there.

They've built a car that's meant to be at the front and dominate from start to finish. Now that they're caught by pack they're in real strife.

Ironically the only guy out there who could salvage something from that 2nd seat now this year is DR. But safe to say he's done now.

I don't think Danny could've done it, he just didn't have the speed in quali anymore to avoid the situation you described.

I don't think it's just that though, Newey cars have always been extremely quick but difficult to drive. Takes a while to get your head around it.

Now with lack of testing its even tougher. If there's a fundamental flaw in the way Lawson is trying to go about it, it's gonna be tough to pull it back.

Oh they were funny, and I think I will check out their stuff for sure. But the one guy just sounded a bit too much like Hamish Blake it was a bit distracting is all. Was waiting for him to tell me about Hubbl.

Japanese Grand Prix would be a big fairytale story, but I feel like that might be a bit too ruthless on Liam after just 2 races. Having said that it seems almost inevitable that Lawson won't last, so why wait ?

Lawson struggling to get to grips in a new car but they are also circuits I don't think he's ever raced at, so makes it doubly difficult

Rumour that the decision has been made and Yuki will be in the Red Bull the next race. There is another rumour that the decision hasn't been made yet but will be made sometime during the week.

All signs seem to be pointing towards Yuki.

No chance they put yuki in given their views on him. Lawson will probably get boned but not for him.

Who do they put in the car then?
