Welcome to F1 in 2025!

Looks like we're heading into another close season of F1 before the rule changes, 2024 will be remembered as one of the most even seasons of F1 in history and with the PU freeze remaining and regulations remaining mostly unchanged expect 2025 will be just as close.

The 2025 season will also be the end of an era before the new 2026 regulations take effect from next season. Personally I'm a sentimental guy, below are some relics from this era that we may not see in F1 again.
  1. Internal combustion engines supplying the majority of power - from 2026 onwards the ratio of power provided by the hybrid system and the power unit will be closer to a 50:50 parity meaning the importance of the electric components and braked energy recovery will be considerably more important. The MGU-H system that harvested energy from the turbocharger during coasting and assisted in spinning the compressor at low rpm will also be gone in 2026.
  2. Renault as an engine supplier - the closure of the Viry-Chatillon factory and switch to Mercedes power in 2026 for Alpine means 2025 will be the last season that Renault engines appear on the grid, which if you overlook some rebranding between '98 to '00, have been a constant presence on the grid since 1989.
  3. Fixed front wings - in 2026 the regulations will allow active aerodynamics taking the form of three piece front and rear wings to allow adjustment of downforce levels during the lap to suit different parts of the track. 2026 may see a lesser importance placed on teams correct balance between cornering speed and straight line speed.
  4. Two long standing customer deals are coming to an end in 2025. Sauber is moving away from Ferrari engines for the first time since their BMW partnership wound up in 2009 to new supplier Audi. The Aston Martin F1 team has existed in various guises but all of them have run Mercedes units since 2009, they're now switching to Honda engines in 2026
  5. Four current F1 tracks don't have a contract for 2026 - Mexico City, Las Vegas, Imola and Spa. Spa has appeared in every F1 season since 1983.

What are you looking forward to in 2025?

Another year of development for Oscar
Rookies
Mid-tier battle - Alpine v Haas v Williams

Hoping for Leclerc and Piastri to be in the championship fight. Sky will be insufferable if one or both of Hamilton and Norris are there.

Looking forward to Charles hopefully in the title hunt.
Oscar to improve his qualifying should make him more competitive
Seeing how doohan does. Still alot of talk of colapinto and alpine
If redbull fall back the verstappen leaving talk could be interesting. Also how Lawson does in the main car.
Please don't let it be boring

Also does crofty bow to sir Martin brundle?

Looking forward to the dynamics between LeClerc and Hamilton at Ferrari, especially if Hamilton gets a good start. Will Leclerc get second driver status or we gonna get Papaya rules Ferrari edition?

What do I most want to see in 2025? Either #4 or #81 taking the Drivers title race deep into the season (ideally between each other), retain the Constructors and less bottling of opportunities to win.

The last one is a non-negotiable, Lando somehow found himself in a title race after the opening weeks was how far Max. If the same situation arises this season we need less panic and confusion both from the pitwall and in the car.

We all know that #blessed will be done in by Charlie.

Most open season in a few years, first time since the first Max year where you genuinely don't know who is going to win this year. I can't wait for it.

Looking forward to Lewis at Ferrari obviously

Piastri continuing to develop (especially his qualifying)

Lawson at red bull, i'm backing him to surprise a lot. Rooting for him more than anything because he is getting a lot of unjustified hate.

Hopefully seeing Leclerc in the title hunt.

Simply enjoying watching another year of Max at the peak of his powers.

satirical?
If Ferrari get their shit together, and that's a big IF, then he's got the speed to win it all.

Lando and Max probably deserve to start favourites but for the first time in years we don't know what Red Bull are going to bring.

And what scars does Lando have ??
