1000 years ago when Jack Doohan's dad was the king of motorbike racing. There was something about two engines Hinda had, and I think one was called a "screamer" and the other a "big bang". I think the "screamer" was the engine Honda wanted to use because it was their next engine and may've been easier for everyone to use. Mick, being the king dick of the joint, I think, pushed for the big bang engine because he knew his teammates couldn't ride it as well as him, So Honda continued with the big bang engine.

I wonder with the clout Verstappen has in RB, if insisting with the pointiness preference is just so that it's better for him? And there's no one in the team to override the development process to something more neutral and get the second car up there?

I mean jos verstappen has an ego the size of a planet so it's possible.

I don't think that is the case, to be honest. Max has been pretty critical of the car for a while now and even he is at the point where it is getting too hard for him to drive. I just think it is a case of Red Bull going too far in one direction and are too far down the rabbit hole to turn it around until the new regs kick in.

Given that Honda is leaving at the end of the year and yuki is going with them-i can't see how or why they would do such a backflip.
Because they can't afford to have a driver qualifying last each round.

They'll want to avoid it at all costs but they may just have to take their medicine.

That doesn't mean they haven't pushed the car too far in favour of Max's driving style over the years. The car is obviously poorer now overall but it wouldn't surprise me if part of that is due to how Max wanted it set up.

Just in regards to radio broadcasts etc, as was pointed out on the last page, what we see is from the World Feed (FOM) and Sky have no control over what when or what radio messages are broadcast. What Sky do have though is people listening to all the team radios, so they can relay information to Brundle/Crofty that might not be broadcast.

Case in point on the weekend when they broadcast the messages between HAM and the pitwall discussing swapping the cars over, the broadcast didnt show the first message where HAM was the one who suggested the idea, and instead made it look like Ferrari were asking him to move and he was being funny about it. Brundle made a passing comment (just before or as the messages were broadcast) that HAM had suggested a car swap, as he was given the information off air .

It was even to the point that Fred Vassuer had to ask FOM for a please explain:

I believe the same thing happened last weekend with the whole McLaren they are free to race/telling PIA to hold position etc. Normally the messages might be delayed by half a lap at most, but I think I saw someone went through all the transcripts and showed that the messages between PIA and McLaren were actually delayed by a lap or two which made it look like they waited for him to have his little mistake before telling him he was free to race.

Its nearly like FOM are trying to insert a little DTS drama into the live broadcast.....

and on this the hold position was also heavily related to the cars they were coming up to lap, as in, hold until you've cleared lapped traffic.

They very much have but the narrative that Max would have been pushing for it is just wrong.

He's finding the car difficult to drive, I cant imagine why Red Bull would have designed a car that is so difficult for him to maximise (pun half intended)

Max would've been pushing for what is wrong?

It's long been documented that the Red Bull has been set up specifically for Max.

know someone who was a camshaft engineer with mighty mick. he said the screamer had too narrow power band and that no one liked it. the big bang had a more manageable power band.

Possibly but Helmut is one of the most arrogant people I know I can't see it happening.

And from yukis end sure he wants a better car but if he knows he won't be at either red bull team in 2026 why would he want to drive such a difficult car now? He's better off driving an easier to drive car where he can put himself in the shop window more effectively for other teams.

So daddy Doohan was smart enough to make sure that he had an on track advantage and you think he’s a dick for that?
Turned that advantage into 5 world championships!
I’d say it was a smart move by daddy doohan.

I think he's a dick for having a crack at Simon Crafar after Simon won at Donnington Park. But in the context of my post I used the term "king dick", which is to acknowldge Mick being the no1 rider at Honda.

Theyve won 8 drivers championships and 6 constructors, thats more than most teams over the years.

Might be a slower build back up but theyll be fine.

Due to those two generational talents. If they had better second drivers, they would have had 8 WCC as well.

Sainz, Albon and Gasly are all Red Bull products. Sainz was competitive at Ferrari and, early days, looks fine at Williams. Their issue is everything revolves around Max, which detracts from the team as a whole.

To an extent when youve got a guy as good as Max is, it makes sense.

Its probably Jos and Helmut who are the biggest impediments to everyone else.
