Stopped watching Home and Away in 2001. Wonder who the audience is now the youths all have smartphones.

The Brits

I'm curious if/how much funding for it comes from the UK - when Neighbours was axed the other year it was on the back of funding being withdrawn from whichever UK TV station aired the program

I stopped watching it about 10 years before that, there wasn't much choice back then with only a few channels and no streaming.

God knows why anyone would watch it these days.

According to it's Wikipedia page, H & A is shown in 80 countries, so I'm sure it's still reeling in plenty of rights money.

Apparently it's very big in prisons.

I could be wrong but I don't think H&A and Neighbours had the same funding deals from the UK. Don't recall reading H&A having any of that.

gotta love it when random International who I don't know jets off to another T20 comp midway through and gets replaced by another random International who I don't know...

It's part of the reason I can't get into BBL. I watch it from time to time because I have nothing better to do, but I honestly don't know who half the players are. To me, it just seems like an all expenses paid holiday for overseas players not good enough to represent their own countries.

ok but Mohammad Hasnain literally played against Australia like two months ago
That’s the problem with the one day series being played behind a pay wall not everybody gets to see it.

I’ve got Foxtel so never miss a game but I really hate where Australia’s going with sport and tv rights.

Can’t even imagine the AFL season for people without kayo/fox and not being able to watch a game on a Saturday.

Lockie Ferguson and Sherfane Rutherford are both regular white ball representatives of their countries. Ferguson has played 65 ODIs for NZ, hardly random.

This probably ends any chances the Thunder had. Ferguson is a white-ball specialist, and Garton was complete pants for the Strikers a few years ago.

it was a wild generalisation, but they're hardly "big name" players regardless of International credentials.

Who are crickets big name players right now, outside of India?

We dont live in the Gayle, Bravo, ABD era anymore. I can't think of many global cricketers that would be bum on seats kind of attractions. Maybe Harry Brook, but even then he played Big Bash a few years ago and averaged 6 with the bat.
