After reading this discussion on GHS, Geelong will need to do a lot better than offer us him. Forget it.
Target menegola or kolodjhasnji both players would be a perfect fit for us.
Menegola is one of the best tacklers in the comp and kolodjhasnji would be a solid lock down defender as we can't rely on tissue Thompson.

Let's just hope he retires and spares us all the drama
It would certainly take some of the heartburn out of it.

Ablett still in contact so you can take him out of consideration and kiss ya premiership dreams goodbye
I have no real aspiration to see him back at Geelong.. purely passing on the info that Kolo has signed.

you do realise that a lot of cats fans would rather see him retire than come back to Geelong don't you?

He burnt a lot of fans when he left, he hocked all his merchandise online and then the site vanished the moment he left, he instigated the meeting with the Suns to chase the dollars and join you.
Don't believe for a second he wanted to help build a side from scratch, he wanted the $$$$ and he has happily taken the AFLs money since, he lied all year and made up some nonsense about having an epiphany at Hamilton Island at the end of the season.. so there are a lot of people that don't want to see him back, or if he is back don't want the club to cough up anything for him because of all that

If he retires I don't think there will be too many upset that he isn't coming back

I'd see it as a bonus if he was in the hoops again, but most likely he retires I would say, either his body is shot or he is deliberately not playing.. (and neither are things I want to see in a player coming into our club) and we will work on the couple of players we are trying to get out of GWS

You took the words right out of my mouth
The sickening hypocrisy of these self entitled people down there.

OK Mr Bods..I dont think I have done anything but be as straight with my comments as I could. Hypocrisy? Not sure when or how I have been hypocritical. I will leave you to it and we will just have to see what happens.

Fair points but i also think he really wanted to be a captain that was a fairly big motivator for him and to a lesser extent playing with his brother but obviously those two things don't matter anymore.

If you want a contracted player of ours then all your contracted players are fair game too. It goes both ways.

Was hoping a Geelong fan would say that.
There are two possibilities yes
1-physical and his body can't play two games in a row
OR
2-he's a disgraceful man between the ears with his integrity and why would you want to reward that.

Thanks Willo.

As I have previously mentioned... its not up solely up to the clubs . I merely informed this thread that Kolo has just signed..that to me means he will not be moving as he is happy enough to want to stay. If thats hypocritical in your mind then ..as I said I will leave it to you..

Personally neither option is something I'd be happy about bringing in

Not much of an example to set for others...
And the only way I'm ok with it is if it didn't cost us anything.. naturally I'm looking at it through eyes that suit my own club.
I doubt he is just allowed to walk for free, so hopefully he retires rather than us over paying

Maybe kolodjhasnji resigning is a ruse to give him more value when the sun's ask for him in a trade. After all clubs have more power over contracted players.
Gone are the day's where contracts stop a player from moving. Well 95% gone as evidenced by Gibbs last year.

Anyway would rather menegola over Jk with Leslie and Spencer emerging it's our contested mids we need to improve and menegola knows where the goals are.

Most of us would much rather smith and hopper thanks (which our club is working on). Ablett is not a huge priority whether he retires or not is not really our issue.

I have read your Ablett thread over at "Total Footy" and I'm not buying what you are selling us.
There are a heap of your fans frothing at the thought of GAJ.
So pay up and pay up big time.
We will take an above average inside mid and you can pay for him out of your cap.

Menegola signed a 3 year deal a couple of months back I believe.
I can't see the Cats giving up either

And yes before you reply with 'then you won't get Gaz' I'm aware of what you want

mick warner said on on the couch that the Suns want a player and Geelong to pay atlest 350 thousand of his contract to even Think about trading Ablett

I understand that they may have recently signed a contract but let's face it if they haven't they're probably not worth asking for are they?

Geez that'd be a dream scenario
Can't see it happening though

oh you wouldn't be doing your due diligence if you didn't ask the question at least for sure

I just love how some Geelong fans are critical for Ablett leaving and not being loyal and a one club player.
Kelly, Stevie J and Chapman all wanted to be one club players but were moved on after providing them with 3 flags.
Can't have it both ways.
Deep down they all want him because their time is now.

Garry Ablett said he wants to leave Gold Coast and is asking to leave, kolo just this week said he wants to stay at Geelong and signed a contract.

How is this in any shape or form hypocritical? One had stated he wants to leave, the other had said this week he wants to remain at Geelong. Very unusual hypocritical reasoning. Completely oppositive situations.

You do realise it is garry wanting to walk out of the suns? Geelong isn't doing anything arrogant, he is knocking on our door.
