Farren Ray

have to agree, would rather a healthy draft pick in this upcoming tallish draft.

I mean, if you think tall players are in short supply now, whats going to be the situation in a few years time when the gold coast has snapped up 3 years of top draft picks and all the queenslanders?

Although I should say I am not in favour of trading ray for the sake of it, just if he wanted to go etc... more of a comment on trading in general.

Yeah lets give them our first pick for him

We are so short of the type of player above

Please

Mundy is 192cm and 91kgs, obviously not KPP but a good height and solid size to play an important role down back or through the middle against damaging opponents.

The other players in similar stature and role we have at the club would be Dale Morris and Ryan Hargrave, hardly an abundance of there type of player at the club, also two of our best performed this year.

I hope to be proven wrong on Ray in time, but in terms of midfield type players I would put him behind Cooney, Boyd, Cross, Gia, Griffen, Higgins, and Hill. Others would disagree.

If Mundy were at the club and down back, it could release Gilbee onto a wing also, who possibly be very damaging for us from time to time if released there.

Anyway, its not my decision to make but thats my view on it. It comes down on whether or not both players want to move back to there home states and if our coaching staff believe there is enough improvement left in Ray to persist with or a future with Mundy worth pursueing.

I reckon Ray is going to have a big game tomorrow night. Line breaker against a team that plays a "cluster".

I agree...the thing that lets him down is his inaccurate disposal. He can run well and reads it well, we just need him to be able to hit the targets more often. It really stands out sometimes when he just blazes away to a 1 on 3 but hopefully with the wide wings on the MCG he can get out and run. Lucky Gavin Urqhart isn't playing!!!

If Ray plays like he did in that final against the Pies, hopefully many of the negative posters will be eating their keyboards.

One thing I noticed about Ray is, that his kicks to Brad Johnson are always perfect. If he could just kick like he was kicking to Johnson every time he'd be great.

Can we please trade or at least delist this piece of poo at the end of the season
I hate the sight of him running around representing the dogs jumper
I may be being a bit harsh but i just have this pet hate for him he frustrates me so so so much
Thoughts?

Here`s a thought, anyone who calls any Bulldog player "a piece of poo" does not deserve to call themselves a supporter and is a disgrace.

Regardless of what you think of Farren, he is certainly not "a piece of poo" and deserves a bit more respect than that. Poor form from a Johnny come lately .

Agree Bullyboy. Considering the broken leg which interrupted Farren's season he has been one of the better players in my opinion. Go Faz!

I thought that was what the forum was for to have a melting pot of ideas and opinions. Frankly Farren hasn't been up to the standard of a number 4 draft pick, he has been hugely disappointing. As far as one of the better players this year, I don't agree.
Having said that, the best game he ever played was the final against Collingwood 2 years ago, if he can reproduce that form then I am sure a lot of the negative posters will go easier on him in the future.

What pick he was taken at in the draft is now irrelevant. He's one of the boys and a talented young one to boot. That draft was shithouse anyway.
You are right that draft wasn't strong however if in doubt try a big man in my opinion. No offence to Faz he just isn't that good. Tonight is a very big night for him.

Was a pretty tough draft. I just had a look at the top thirty and there isn't a great deal of tall timber that I would put ahead of Ray. Chaplin is an obvious one but he lasted until pick 15 so obviously wasn't a stand out at the time. Mundy went at 19.

Essendon may have used the if in doubt, use an early draft pick on a tall method and that didn't work too well for them. Looking at the talent that was taken in the top 30 of that draft I am pretty confident Farren has the attributes to be in the top handfull. Players taken after 30 that are going well include Adcock, Blake, Shaw, Buchanan, Fisher, Hudson and Rischitelli but each team passed over these guys twice before they went, and in time Faz may turn out better than some of them.

Stop talking sense in an irrational dicsussion scapegoating a player please...

But just to continue the theme, can anyone provide a replacement for Farren for tonight's game...? Ward? Reid? I'm certain I'd have Faz above them and some blokes already in the side. But like I said, sense has no place in this debate. Just scapegoating and name calling please.

This post wasn't on Faz getting selected tonight it is about whether he should be traded and where he fits in the club.
Heres players we could have got instead of faz in that draft, some are smaller players but I consider them close enough to Faz in ability or better.
Craig Bolton he was picked up by Sydney in psd
Brock Maclean
Beau Waters
Ryan murphy
David Mundy
Troy Chaplin

Sam Butler.....Injuries cruelled this lad
Matthew moody
Jed Adcock
Amon Buchanan
Michael Pettigrew.....remember him he killed us in the game at Darwin
Daniel Jackson
Sam Fisher
Ben Hudson
Micheal Rischitelli
Shane Tuck
Andrew Raines
Brent Hartigan
The highlighted ones are doing well right now, better than Farren. Sam Fisher is the surprising one he was drafted very low, in the 50s.

We have a few medium height forwards now with hunter, Lecca and McKinley also a few decent talls with Brown, Kennedy, Notte, Big Q and Hansen. Out of those hunter, lecca and mickinley will be in the starting best 22. So will kennedy and Big Q. Notte and Brown are both young players that havent been given a chance to develope yet brown through injury this year and notte through being a twig who was only drafted last year. So the only tall forward who would be traded is hansen but for some reason WC want to persist with him in the 22 they gave him a 3 year contract extension so probably wont be traded this year.

We have de listed chad jones 196cm who kicks bags in the WAFL but is a risk as he was picked up by the kangas first who de listed him than we rookie listed him elevated him last year than de listed him recently.

ANY Bulldogs player? So not even Jade Rawlings?

I don`t neccessarily disagree with the topic or thread however I do question any so called supporters loyalty when they call one of OUR players "a piece of poo" in the process:mad:.
your right - its not his fault clayton picked him up to go with our small brigade

i think we have just had rotten luck with our tall recruits if you ask me, which is just bad luck i suppose

i mean, we wouldnt be complaining if skipper, tim walsh, tom williams and the like had all come on and were good players ey?
