favourite and worst ground to attend the footy and Marvel stadium

I enjoyed my visit to Marvel but this was in 2018 and I probably had the horrible Subiaco Oval still in my mind.

Adelaide Oval by far the best, when the game is close that ground is absolutely deafening. Kardinia Park is right up there too, so close to the action, great facilities, fantastic food.
I've worked at the G and when you work at so many not even half full Melbourne and Hawthorn games you realise it is a pretty bland ground that only shines a few days a year.
Worst I hate to say is my hometown, Mars Stadium needs a lot more work to get it up to standard. As far as a regular stadium goes I agree with everyne and the SCG, went there a few years ago now and it was just a shambles.

One of my little pleasures is going to Marvel on a clear winter's night with the roof open, I don't know why but i just makes the stadium feel so much bigger and suddenly all the little annoyances melt away as you realise this is a world class stadium. Maybe that's just because it is a novelty.

KP is great. Oppo fans understandably hate it because they've historically been shunted to the older parts of the ground with bad facilities (plus they tend to lose which would sour it a tad). But come 2023 that all changes. Whole ground has been rebuilt and it's now the best boutique stadium in the country, plus it has the capacity to fit some of you in too :thumbsu:

MCG is pretty good, but I sit in the GSS/Shane Warne stand so looking forward to that being rebuilt (hopefully with proper bars and food on lvl2 for the AFL members).

Marvel is ok, but just feels sterile. Nothing worse than a sunny sunday arvo and sitting inside with the roof closed. Honestly they should replace the retractable roof with a permanent glass roof. At least let the sun shine ffs. Would be great if they could remove the corner screens (and associated concrete) and hang a central one like the NFL stadiums do, but I suspect that they're partly structural for the roof so can't be done.

Optus stadium is pretty good, like a mini MCG. No real complaints except the wait for food (and the game only had 30k there)

TIO in Darwin was a hoot. Great fun, was like being at a country game.
Can KP really be considered 'boutique' anymore? Its a sizeable and really modern proper stadium now.

Marvel is better viewing then MCG but the MCG has that aura find it easy to get around.
I find the f and b outlets better at the mcg. And more range.

I hate Ikon.
Not much there apart everything plus people squezzed in one area.
The rest of the ground is closed.
They have this huge blue stell shed thing at one end with thet carlton logo on it ugly.
Hard to get to as well.
Only on 1 tram line and its normally packed.
No car parking unless you want a parking ticket.
Terrible surface.

Vic park.
Is more spread out.
Better surface.
More range of f and b outlets.
Easy access train, bus and car parking there as well.

Docklands in Melbourne, just a far superior viewing experience than MCG. MCG unless you are centre wing on level 2 is horrendous viewing, its freezing cold in winter and unless there is 70k+ it feels empty and soulless. Melbournians are brainwashed into thinking its amazing and best stadium in the world, when in reality its horrific for all but the corporates on level 2.

Marvel is great for watching footy. Unfairly maligned.

The real question should be which level in a stadium is best. Level 1 is for people who like being at the football and don't particularly care all that much what is happening on the ground play by play.

2 > 3 > 1
That's the problem with Docklands, the best seats in the house on level 2 are always empty! If they opened it up so people could actually sit there without having to fork out ridiculous money it might have a better reputation.

Worst has to be the SCG.

Postage stamp sized ground where a hack forward means a goal. Never is suited to Aussie rules never will be. best to have it at Homebush olympic stadium.

Hardest in terms of weather Blundstone in Hobart its straight off the south pole the weather.

Worse surface has to be the Gabba.
