Might be because you don't enjoy the taste of actual beer.

:D

Nice diplomacy:thumbsu:. Worse could have been said.

Had a couple of pearlers on the weekend. Two Brothers Growler (a dark ale) and the Schloss Eggenberg Samichlaus Classic, a 14% from Austria...wow! For those who really know their stuff, this is one you can actually cellar.

Having unusual cravings for James Squire's sundown lager brought on from memories of this time last year. Will be grabbing myself a case or two from Dan Murphy's tomorrow if they have it in stock. :thumbsu:

It really is one of those beers you either crave or don't want.

I have the same thing with roof top.

Just been in Belgium and picked up a couple of bottles of this. Voted the best wheat beer in the world recently and was highly recommended by the shop owner. Tasted absolutely amazing and really hope I can find some more without having to go back.

Got myself 4 variations of Leffe aswell. One is 9 percent :thumbsu: Haven't tried them yet.

Tried Leffe the other day. Almost threw up in my mouth. Some guy bet me $50 to skulls the whole glass. Did it easily and then thanked him for the cash. But seriously; you like that stuff?

I thought it tasted like apple sauce that had been thrown up, then eaten and then shat out again...

Try sipping it next time Einstein

Speights Gold Medal Ale from Dunedin New Zealand is a great drop. Very clean taste. Unfortunately not available on import in Australia any more.

Didn't want to start a new topic about it but has anyone ever tried out that beer sold in the Aldi supermarkets, or any of their their wine/whiskey/bourbon/vodka/coconut concoction look-alikes?

Hey their hedgehog slices and energy drinks are (surprisingly) quite good, so you never know. :thumbsu:

But I doubt it.

Late reply...

I've had their darker boutique beer, Shipstones something, I forget exactly. It is quite good for a budget priced beer, it has a malty beery taste, something that lends itself to a critique at least. It's certainly better than a VB or Carlton say, and cheaper even.

(yes I realise boutique and Aldi are contradictions, branded as)

I haven’t read this thread in its entirety so i do apologize if it’s been mentioned but last night I had a Bee Sting - Honey Wheat Beer from Barossa Valley Brewing.

It was a very nice beer to drink. Not as good as James Squires, James Boags or Coopers Pale Ale but will buy it again.

You judged a beer after sculling it?

Take the 50 bucks and buy a half a carton of it, and drink it properly.

Well spotted. A mate of mine saw this at Aldi when they first put it out a while back. Said his brother had tried it and reckoned it was pretty good. So he bought some and we polished it off one night and for the price it definitely punches above it's weight.

this thread is a bit of wankfest about who can name the most abstract imports and sound pompous and talk down to people who just enjoy a nice cold beer. (yes i understand some people are just informing others of beers they have tried and enjoyed but others are just being down right arrogant)

who gives a shit if someone says their favourite beer is TED's, Corona, Vic, or Hahn F**king ice. It's their choice, their tastebuds so get off the high horse? for what its worth i drink just about anything and love trying new beers (both local and imported) but regularly drink the following beers

- any james squires
- any little creatures (love rogers, bright and pale)
- matilda bay fat yak, beez neez
- james boags pure
- tooheys new
- carlton draught
- coopers pale
- oranjeboom (always cheap at woolies)
- hoegaarden
- whatevers free

- have participated in many "30 block days" where you buy a 30 block of cans and try and finish it in a single sitting. purchases have included Aldi's bugle bay bitter, hahn ice, tooheys red, tooheys new and vb. good fun but probably gives you the worst hangover and i dont really enjoy any of them except for the tooheys new, usually we have to get a beer bong out to speed the process up.
