Bluetounge Premium is my Fav at the moment. Very Nice Drop :thumbsu:

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried that "Cruiser Hummingbird" passionfruit-flavoured beer? Just the idea of a passionfruit beer made by the people behind Vodka Cruisers disgusts me.

I wonder why.

I guess that rules out any chance of getting a regular source of Speights Old Dark Ale then too :(

I was at the Speight's brewery in Dunedin a few days ago. Did the tour and tasted a bunch of their beers. The nicest one was the Summer Harvest, a wheat beer that tasted like apricots. It was a limited release thing, though, and you can't even find it in NZ anymore!

I'd do anything to get my hands on some!

I got jokingly handed one at a BBQ. It's literally the worst beer I have ever tasted. It's designed for girls, but not even the girls came close to liking it.

A mate came over to mine for a few beers last night.

He brought VB Gold, thinking it was a premium version of VB :rolleyes:.

Needless to say, it was an absolut shocker. Overly sweet, you miss out on the alcohol, but somehow you still end up with a VB headache...

I still drank it, as I didn't want to offend!

Just wondering, when people drink a Tasi beer they usually drink Boags. Anyone drink Cascade?

I'm from Hobart, so it is loosely considered that preferring Boags over Cascade is a felony (Territorial). Subsequently Cascade Draught and Pale Ale are pretty much my first drink of choice. Pale Ale in particular is just an all-round solid beer.

VB Gold is probably the best midstrength going around in my opinion.

I have a real soft spot for a Mexican beer called 'Tecate'.

When in a restaurant in Mexico a few years back the waitress asked which beer we wanted to drink (they had 6 local beers on the menu) to which we replied "bring us one of each beer you have in the order they appear on the menu'. We skipped Coroner as its a horrible beer.

We got through them all and pretty much agreed Tecate was our new beer of choice. Its not gonna change you life or anything - its just a cool little number to enjoy. And thats what beer is all about.

Hard to get here - the bottle shop down the far end of Ackland Street (not Luna Park end) gets them in but have not seen them many places other than that.

didn't happen to be on the 7th, did it? I was on the 5pm tour. :D

Summer harvest was a good un, but the distinction ale was fantastic.

I saw a clearance shop in Richmond selling six packs of cans for 5 bucks.

Compared to what? Tasted like cats piss to me.

Compared to Coopers Clear, absolute shocker.

Don't understand why an honest, family run brewery have to put out crap like this. Surely Pale Ale and Sparkling Ale have enough fanboys (like me :p) so they don't have to brew stuff like this, just for the extra money?

Pure Blonde and Hahn Super Dry (plus maybe Boags Classic Blonde) have got the low carb market pretty much covered anyway.

Had a stubbie of Coopers Clear today. Very generic low carb beer, it offers absolutely nothing flavour-wise to make me go back for more. I suppose it would be a pretty good beer to knock back on a really hot day, as it's dry, crisp and quite easy to drink. Anyone who's into the rest of Coopers range should probably give it a miss.

It's better than Pure Blonde and whatever the Boags one is called, but it doesn't take Cascade Green's place as best low-carb in Australia.
