Just finished six, 12 hour shifts in a row.....and am enjoying a breakfast beer and eight days off.

James Squire Golden Ale. After a long time without a beer its going down beautifully, poured into a good glass.

Lovely creamy, hoppy and malty without being too thick. The head is beading all the way down the glass :p

Excuse the pic quality, just taken on my phone.

Just had some Fat Yak for the first time in a while, was good. First time I tried it I thought it was ok but I liked it more this time.

Not much of a Squire fan. Its ok in moderation but I couldn't drink it regularly...

I'll admit to just being a mainstream drinker, while a beer lover all the same.

Pale Ale is a favourite, also don't mind Becks for a European Beer, but my safest bet which I have regularly is Super Dry's.

Without a doubt the worst beer I've had is Hammer N Tongz, I got sucked into the $29 a carton price tag :D

Tiger is my favourite beer!

Anyone ever tried Coopers Lager? Never tried it as Coopers are known for their ales/stout but I had it on tap and it's very good

Little Creatures Rogers- i know its mid strength but it tastes so damn good! Can anyone recommend similar beers? I also like the little creatures pilsner and bright ale, but not a fan of pale ale.

Favourites, in no particular order:

Little Creatures Pale Ale.
Fat Yak Pale Ale (but mainly on tap).
Alpha Pale Ale (Fat Yak's big brother, astounding drop).
Coopers Sparkling (tried and true, not an absolute favourite but value for money probably top).
Coopers Extra Strong Vintage
Coopers Best Extra Stout
Guinness (but only in Ireland)
Guinness 250th Anniversary Stout
Baron's Black Wattle Original Ale
James Squire Golden Ale
James Squire IPA
Moo Brew Pale Ale

As you can probably tell, I don't care much for lagers. I'm also yet to find a pilsner I really like (which I admit has stopped me from trying them at times, kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy really).

Working at Dan Murphy's means im exposed to all types of wonderful beers.

For me my favourite beers change depending on the mood I am in and also the circumstances in which i am drinking.

For a casual after work beer nothing beats a lovely hoppy craft beer.
Fat Yak
Little Creatures Pale
James Squire Summerale
Pepperjack ale
Big Helga

White Rabbit

For a 6 pack when I feel like something different.
Monteiths Summerale - beautiful beer for those who enjoy ginger
Monteiths radler - the only radler I will buy, has an intensly sweet beer, I recommend it to those who are new to beer.

Europeans are perfect for a session
Peroni
Kronenbourg 1664
(look for the imported restaurant backs rather than shitty fosters)
But my favourite European would have to be
Budejovicky Budvar the best thing i love about this beer is its finish. Simply amazing how crisp it is.

For a normal occasion, my favourites would be the James Squires Golden and Little Creatures Bright.

Out of absolutely everything, the two best beers I've tasted have been:

Knappstein Reserve Lager (fantastic aromatic, clean-tasting beer)

and the Red Hill Hop Harvest Ale (just a delicious mixture of hops-y, malty flavours).

Knappstein is superb and Red Hill Golden Ale is fantastic as well. Prefered over the Harvest Ale.

Both in my top couple of beers. :thumbsu:

Portland Ale which is only on tap at the James Squire Brewhouse on Russell St if you haven't had it is brilliant.

Wicked Elf Witbier and White Rabbit White Ale were recent ones that were top shelf.

You'll most likely enjoy these lesser known beers based on the others you mentioned.

Anyone tried the new James Squier limited release "Malt Runner"?

It's a rich ale, chocolatey, with a bit of sweetness from the supposedly 10% cherry juice added to the wort. I think it's around 5.3%. Definitely not a session beer, but perfect to have a couple on a cold winter day.

Hopefully popping down to the local cellars this arvo to get a six of the maltrunner. Perfect weather for it at the moment, by the sounds of it.

Marke Original OeTTINGER Pils.

Had this for the 1st time on the weekend and it went down well.

$20 cheaper than that water/Carona so called beer.

I bought a carton of this from BWS on Friday for $30. It's pretty drinkable, so for the price it's an absolute bargain. I'd easily drink this over a lot of more expensive local beers.

Yep! Exactly right.

For the price its a huge bargain. $30 a carton as apposed to $50 for the Carona crap.
