Lucky enough to be present at both games.

Game at Oputs Oval in the early 90's against the Eagles when Simon Minton Connel kicked a goal from 50 out on the boundary line at the Social Club end to put us in front. Think the Eagles were undefeated at that stage of the year. Great win!
Gotta love the 99 prelim as well
..... you probably should have left that one out
Think it was '91 from memory.
Kicked the goal pretty much in front of West Coasts race and went straight through the middle.
That's the game, thanx HBF.
And let's not forget Brent Crosswell, the Brendan Fevola of his day. He was trouble, but he was fabulous.more to come
Battle of Britain (aside from the 99 GF) was my favourite game involving Carlton.

I personally enjoyed the 95 prelim final!
It absolutely poured that night as well!!! I still enjoyed it though

Found this clip on youtube. One of those moments in a game that i could watch over and over again! Bring back the chainsaw Houlihan!! I reckon he's underrated by supporters, and hopefully he will ignite a bit of passion and faith, by having a great year next year!
(By the way, Dermott ruins that clip, he's such a ********er).
3 mad Essendon friends all travelled to Melbourne to watch Dons play in 99 Grand Final. One was my friends smart Alec little brother, who changed his ticket and came home early pretending he didnt go to Melbourne for football but suddenly it was just a holiday. The local Essendon fan club president who returned with his grand final ticket because he didnt want to sell it to one of us.The last was a friend who caught the bus to Melbourne to see his sick father and while there was going to try and get tickets. The bus pulled in to a servo when he rang me to find out score of Pre-lim,in his anger I think he actually invented new swear words.Anyone remember how many Essendon fans lined up to get Grand Final tickets instead of going to the game?!
Nah - that was a shocking night (plus I was the sole Roos fan with half a dozen Carlton supporting mates to make it worse). The pricks made me go to Percy's pub in Carlton after the game to pay up all my match day bets. Bastards!
My only highlight was Schwatta KO'ing Peter Dean with the perfect hip and shoulder on the Southern Stand wing that night.
And the tough bastard actually made it back onto the ground later in the night IIRC!!
1979 GF for me as well Mediumsizered...Wayne harmes was my favorite Carlton player back in those days ..so his effort to seal the match made it extra special for me . While i delighted in the 99 prelim win, the 79 Granny still holds a special place in my heart ..and is yet to be topped ...but who knowsThe '99 PF was a super game but I will always have a soft spot for the '79 GF. Being the first GF I went to, it was such an awesome day. The way we came back from almost 5 goals behind at the 20 minute mark of the second quarter, to be in front at half time. The 5 goal to 2 goal 3rd quarter which we thought was enough to get us over the line & then that last quarter, highlighted by Harmes' special moment, Jezza's injury & the Dominator chipping in on a number of occasions to take crucial defensive marks. We didn't hear the final siren at the old scoreboard end of the ground. The first indication that we had won was the roar of some sections of the crowd & Bruce Doull punching the air. The feeling of elation is still hard to describe. We sang the club song over & over again & I didn't want to leave the 'G'. It was a great day for the Carlton FC, with the Under 19s having won the GF as well (David Glascott starred in that game, which featured several massive brawls). It will take a lot for any game to top the '79 GF in my mind.
And a week later was one of the best on ground in the GF. What an absolute legend was Peter Dean. Gave his all for the Carlton Football Club. How different the outcome might have been in '93 if he had been available. Calthorpe may not have been as keen to perform some of his acts of thuggery.
