Don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting pretty fed up with the Port Power ads to get supporters to buy season tickets. Channel 10, 5AA, the Advertiser, even the local paper for heavens sake. Seems like they had no money for a distribution to the SANFL, but all of a sudden they have thousands for advertising. lol.

C'mon Crow54, I thought this was the Adelaide board. Is there nothing happening at Crowville. I understand the Crows are in NZ this weekend. I bet there is a lot of worried sheep over there at the moment.

Well since Port a great side Carb, we thuoght we should talk about the unpopular AFL tryhard team by the name of Port Power

Crow54!

Why don't you just think about things before posting ridiculous topics like this one.

The fact is that the Port Adelaide Football Club run at a small loss last year being the year 2000.

This is a new year being the year 2001 so the amount of money we had last year has no relevance to last year. We would have received more money this year from sponsors so therefore money would now be available for advertising.

Do you think with the huge loss that the Kangaroos made last year that they have done no advertising?

Think about things first, then again you are a Crows supporter so things do come a little slower.

Well, duh, Scott...just having a little fun here. Sorry, I forgot Port Power supporters have no sense of humour. I really do hope Port Power gets heaps more season ticket holders, it's so sad to see all those empty seats at Footy Park ... lol.

QT, Who is Port Power?. I know the Port Adelaide FC who plays under the name Power, but as far as Port Power, there is no team registered under that name in the AFL.

Maybe you should worry about your own clubs supporters not showing to games before worrying about others...its a well known fact that crows attendances have been decreasing by about 2000 a year (on average) over the last two years...all the bandwagoners jumping off now that there is no finals action??

Supporters may not show on the day, due to other commitments, but the stadium is usually a "sell out". However, it is disappointing to see empty seats for whatever reason.

At least we've actually had crowd TO decrease!

Port's attendances have been shocking - I thought they had the second or third highest membership in the league? Where are they all?!

they do have the second or third highest membership in the league. That doesnt mean they will be only 300 supporters behind the crows tho does it?? Concentrate on your own club...sick to death of crows w***ers ribbing us about our memberhsip. Concentrate on your own for a change, you spend more time supporting against port than supporting the crows

Macca, in other words, youve got no come back....

no in other words you spend more time (like most crows supporters) concentrating on all of Ports faults than concentrating on your clubs positives

Refresh my memory is this an Adelaide Board. So Power People, POQ!

I like many Footy Park Cat 1 members, refuse to see any Power games except of course the Port Home Showdown.

Why oh why don't the Power provide a dividend to the SANFL? Now thats an interesting one.

Well here I am posting to the Crows board, but only because the topic started on Port. Some basic facts to help you muddle through the rest of this.
Te PAFC madea profit of $484,000 last year. There was no dividend to the SANFL because Port wrote of a number of "investments" and recorded a nominal loss. So the SANFL clubs will have to wear it, they 've done pretty well out of Port in previoous years. AS for attendances, The Crows attendances declined by as much as Port's, down to 37,000 last year, so why don't you use your bored,,, er, board, to talk about halting your own slide.

Because we have a liscence fee to pay off which had to be payed off quicker than any other clubs fee.

kirkyno1!

First you tell us to POQ and then you ask us a question.

Can you make up your mind? Either you want us or you don't.

As for the question, Macca has answered it simply enough.

Look, try to understand the basic set up of footy here in SA. Crows and Port membership count SANFL members to the totals. You say Port have 35,000 members but only 28,000 go. Hello? Some Crows supporters claim they have 3 to 10 times the following of Port but they still have only 40 odd thousand members - not 100,000, and guess what - only 37,000 go. Get the picture? I'll keep saying this - I don't give a shit for this weary old Port v Crows argument but do your homework sonny before posting OK?

For half the Crows home games in 2000 the attendance was less than 35000 so there were 10000 empty seats, and at least 15,000 a couple of times. Ports' attendances last year - when they finished 14th, were 42% to the crows 58%. Hardly worth getting all excited about hey?

Those sell outs are largely made up of SANFL members. Most go to see the Crows, a lot don't, they are SANFL followers or Port supporters. So the only time you get your full house is when you play Port. A good % of your so called "sell out" seats are held by Port supporters who don't go - hence one reason for your lousy 37,000 average last year.

Mudhole, firstly, check out my reply to you on the main board, under the topic "Crows supporters now abandoning..."

The members area of Footy Park is made up of Category 1, 2 and 3 members. If those people don't go to the game on the day it doesn't affect the concept of "sell out". Only seats in the outer are affected. Therefore, if the 3000 odd (or whatever number) available for Crows games are sold, it is a "sell out". Regardless if people turn up in the members or outer area.

The term "full house" is different again. And it's true, usually the Showdowns are the games when the stadium is packed to the rafters. At least, that was true in the early days; however last year, I think the Showdowns were down in numbers. The S.A. economy could have a bit to do with this.

If they have such a high membership, why don't these members go to games?! If there are so many members, why shouldn't they pull decent crowds...

I was concentrating on my own club - in case you hadn't noticed, it was you who brought up the issue in the first place...

As I said before, at least we've had crowds to decrease in the first place.

You want bandwagoners? Look no further than your own club! When Port get competitive again, you watch the crowds come flooding back... not used to losing, down Alberton way, are you?

it happens at every club idiot. If a team starts losing a lot of games, some people, the more weaker supporters are not gonna go...it happens everywhere, at port, and yes at your little crows, and at essendon, at sturt, at south, at southport...everywhere at every sporting club in the world

Then why say this?!

I keep repeating this but some people must be new here. Both Crows and Port count Football Park members. There are far less actual Crows and Port members than the official figures. The ration of attendance to membership is about the same for both Crows and Port.

AS for attendances, Port's attendances bear little relation to the team's performance. Home attendances descreased in 99 even though Port performed better, while Port was one of only 4 clubs to increase attendances in 99, since there is far more interest interstate for Port than for the Crows. AS for home games in 2000, the Crows decreased by caomparison every bit as much as Port's, so that the % of Port's attendances to the crows remained at 42% to 58%.

Crows claim sell out games, but this is because most of the unfilled seats are actually held by Port supporters, so that the Crows had an average of just 37,000 last year.

What I suggest people do is take some time to read up on the numbers before getting all excited about their personal prejudices. As I've said before, I have very little interest interest in Port v Crows argumnents, both clubs have a lot of work to do, but the ignorance about basic well published facts is a bit sad.
