That’s Tex’s season done, no way they risking him for one last game especially one he has to fly to

Adelaide forward Taylor Walker will miss Saturday’s Showdown after undergoing eye surgery.

The 34-year-old left the field after being struck in the eye during the third quarter of yesterday’s win over the Western Bulldogs.

After examination by a specialist, it was found he suffered damage to the pupil in his right eye.

Crows General Manager High Performance Darren Burgess said another historical and secondary issue was also identified.

“A thorough investigation found very minor damage to the retina and the specialist is confident that it has occurred previously,” Burgess said.

“Taylor underwent laser surgery today to correct a small tear and on medical advice, he will miss at least this weekend’s game.

“It is worth noting that his eye injury is very different to that experienced by Rory Sloane, who suffered a retinal detachment before announcing his retirement earlier in the year.”

A decision on whether Walker returns for the Club’s final game of the season against Sydney will be made following a further medical consult.

Nank's been a revelation and I think Milera will be a good inclusion but he doesn't have to unseat Nank.

Milera's highly skilled and at his best is dazzling. Injuries have ruined his game and progress but he'll be great for us if he can actually get on the park consistently.

I don't understand the ambivalence towards him in here and in some posters, the outward dislike. Quality player and will make us better.

I think a lot of people forget ALL of the very poor games he's played, because his good is very good.
Regardless of injury, his consistency over the years has been bog average.

He's still an exceptional player worth persisting with. Of course you have to draw the line somewhere and next injury concerns if significant, well then we should call it game over.

I'd be very happy if he could quickly get back to the best he showed prior to this injury.
I have a feeling it won't happen though and I don't think we can afford him the time/opportunity we did after his last lay-off.

He's had a rough trot.

I like Milera .. weirdly his best season was 2023, 2 years after the identical injury to his other knee

Surely you have to wonder if we aren't going to see a version of Wayne's 203 season until 2026?

I rate Milera, at his best he is very very good. He just can't get on the park.

I'm quietly hopeful that the relative silence from club media comms guys is because they're rather busy getting ready (bracing) for bigger news....some senior sackings!! (Roo, Nicks etc)

Then there's the Burgess news as well.

IF...

Burgess is gone for better opportunities elsewhere

Then...

The Football Ops senior managers/directors have failed the club by letting a world class practitioner slip through their fingers. Questions should be asked. Spotlights should be shone. Gallows should be constructed (metaphoric)
