Fev arrested

No reason other than being Brendon Fevola? What the **** does that mean, seriously?? What are you trying to say? That because Fev is an almighty **** head, that we should just go "oh it's just Fev being Fev"?

Allegations are he said to a cop "take off your badge and hat and I'll smash you". Just Fev being Fev huh? Poor guy, I can't believe the over sensitive cop didn't just smile indulgently.

As for the last allegation being a beat-up, what about the roughly dozen or so incidents? They weren't beat-ups. Dunno about you, but if someone ****s up monumentally 10 times or more, but one of those wasn't as bad as it was made out to be, forgive me for not instantly thinking poor misunderstood Fev is being victimized again
Settle down.

That post was made before that information came to light. At that time all that was reported was that got got asked to move along, refused and got arrested. To me that seemed a massive overreaction and that had it been just a normal person, wouldn't have been arrested. Hence he got arrested because he was Brendan Fevola.

And I wasn't declaring him innocent, I was simply saying we should wait until the facts are in before we pass judgement. And to back this up I brought up how everyone wanted him shot within minutes last time, before it came out he was completely innocent. Surely you'd agree that waiting for the facts to come in is reasonable.

And dozen or so? Righto, off you go. Let's hear them.

That's right, incredibly he wasn't the victim of a beat up, he actually was acting like a ****head. Who would have thunk it?

I think its more unreasonable to assume he got arrested for being Brendon Fevola (whatever that means) than to assume the police had a valid reason for arresting him, other than who he is, which in itself is a tad unfair on the police I would have thought. A police arrest is fairly different to an unsubstantiated allegation, something you knew had occurred this time.

As for listing his priors, **** that, I don't have the inclination or the time. It may not be a dozen. Maybe it's just 8. Or 10. That's kinda the point. The guy's such a ****stick who's been such a ****stick so often that I feel that unlike almost everyone else he actually doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt from a fair minded person like yourself.

Out of interest, what are your thoughts on his behavior now some facts have come to light?

They haven't come to light. They're claims made by the Herald Sun. I'll wait.

Its probably more than 12 going all the way back to 1999.
Wasn't he involved in the "Dry Cleaners" incident and the "Fire Extinguisher" incident back then?

Funny how when you mention a figure (12) posters will focus on that instead of the other more relevant things you post.

Funny place Big Footy

Drunk and disorderly, big deal.
Not shooting at cops.
Not rooting team mates missus.
Not taking nor dealing drugs.
Not drink driving nor crashing.
Not slapping 'round his wife/girlfriend.
Not partaking in orgies/gangbangs with teenagers.
Not glassing women.
Not wanking in his car in a public place.
No sexual assault.
The guy is an immature tool, no doubt. No law against that though.
Should only be a problem and distraction for the club if they allow the media to
push them into hysteria like the general public.
For those still banging on about the restaurant incident, go to the Lions forum and find the link where the "victim" describes the news article as a beat up and that she was misquoted.
Culture? Everyteam has young men with too much money and not enough maturity.

How long does he have left on his contract at Brisbane? I would normally have said they need to cut their losses and sack him, but with the loss of several other experienced players, losing him would hurt. Tuesday will be interesting. I think he was survive and be given yet another chance.

You need the best team, good leadership and the right coaching strategies to win a flag.

Or to get to a GF.

Fevola won't ever cut the mustard.

Collingwood, Sydney, St Kilda and WC have proven this.

Their top tiers were supporters by good ordinary players who played their roles.

Medhurst and Fraser had more talent, but fell by the way side.

Had the legspeed, long kicking and talent to develop into a Pavlich who played up the ground, but lacks the professionalism and motor to reach that level.

Even Leigh Brown played up the ground this year.

Read training reports which stated that Fevola used to take shortcuts like Justin Madden by jogging lap inside the bounday line.

Lazy.

Belongs in that era with Norman, Whitnall and Angwin.
He actually gets his sh1t together pretty well on-field. Barring a nasty injury last year that prevented him from training he always presented in excellent shape. Bar his odds days putting in on the field is the least of his problems. Mostly happy with that part at Carlton. If he was FF at Collingwood I'm guessing they would've still won the flag.

But I do get your point. His main problem is footy doesn't run over summer so he plays up when he has too much time and money on his hands.

If he stopped drinking much of the d1ckhead factor at least would probably disappear. Most of his stupidity is on the grog.

Gambling, of course, is another matter.

So why do you suppose Cousins didn't "file a restraint of trade action"

Cousins is 100 times smarter than Fev and yet he didn't (or couldn't) pursue it.

Maybe the AFL rules are just too tight that it's a WOFTAM

Cousins struck a deal which he perceived to be in his best interests.

Everyone remotely near football knows that the result of his "hearing" was widely known before it took place.

Except, apparently, you.

Two years at near 2 million because it was backended.

Cutting their losses would also cut alot of team with the payout under their bursting salary cap. That's already caused enough probelms without paying Fev out.

Lions are stuck with him.

I'm afraid his reputation is now iron clad and nothing he can do will alter the media perception of him - he will forever be the brain dead party animal from hell no matter what he does.

Mate, that IS what he does. If the dropkick couldn't play football, he'd be laying on a beach somewhere on unemployment benefits.

We got an end of first round compensation pick for Rischitelli. Still in the bank.

Yeah but the whole idea of taking Fevola and the other mature age player was to set up a team ready to compete for the finals over the immediate and not to go through an era of complete rebuild with younger players.

I can understand the temptation with a bloke like Brown who comes to your club every 100 years having only 2 or 3 years of his best football in him.

Its in the bank but losing a player who could lead the drive to feed Brown and Fevola seems to go against why they stuck thier neck out.

According to the Herald Sun he is understood* to have checked into a rehab/mental health clinic.

I wonder if he is (a) just going through the motions in order to satisy the powers that be & save his career or (b) he has finally taken a good long look at himself & come to realize that he has a problem.

I hope its in Qld. I hope he works through this, for his and families future.

very fast admission, hope the arm bandage didnt exacebate the decision.

link says

While the 29-year-old full-forward spent Saturday morning in the Brisbane Watchhouse, sources say he spent Sunday being treated for mental health issues surrounding his self-destructive behaviour.

He was seen leaving the watchhouse with his left wrist bandaged.

Neither the club nor Fevola's management company, Velocity Sports, would comment but it's understood those close to him are concerned by his welfare.

do the pictures confirm? slightly concerning direction..

*Is there a more irritating word in mainstream journalism than understood?

Predictable. Will play the depression card or something along those lines with marriage falling apart and financial ruin to justify his behaviour. If this is an issue why is only checking in now?

Predictable. Will play the depression card or something along those lines with marriage falling apart and financial ruin ...

Yeah, who'd be depressed with their marriage falling apart and being up to their eyeballs in debt to bookies.

Clearly just pretending to be depressed.

Not seeing his kids, career in jepoardy.

Can't imagine why he'd be depressed.

Bit late isnt it? If this was an issue why was he not seeking help prior to this incident?

Because people rarely voluntarily check into rehab until...

a) They are ready
b) They hit rock bottom
or
c) both.

Fev is pretty much to blame for all the problems he faces, but that doesn't preclude him from struggling to emotionally cope with said problems. He is still prone to the same emotional responses as any other human.

He isn't immune to depression just because he's an idiot.

Doesn't take a genius to see he is a hairwidth away from ending up a homeless alcoholic with no prospects. Seeking help is only a good thing. Whether he is capable of truly taking advantage of it is another issue entirely.
