Fev back off the wagon

heh heh, Fev's got the Blues by the balls.

Once he signs the 3 year contract, it will be back to normal antics.

Should have been playing for the Saints back in the 80's, he would have loved it. :D

Did he actually say he was not hitting the booze at all earlier in the year?
Or just not getting blotto week after week?

Means nothing anyway, no way in the world are the Blues letting this guy go whilst they are on the big improve.

We've all become far too precious. Who really cares if Fevola gets drunk and pees on a window anyway? Its not admirable behaviour, but we are talking about Brendan Fevola here.

The problem is that Carlton have said unequivocally that one more indiscretion and he is gone. They've backed themselves into a corner, and Fev is now playing with fire.

In a major step forward, Fevola has told confidantes he will not drink throughout the football season and not join end-of-season football trips.

It means, at 27, the $500,000-a-season forward is likely to be off alcohol for the next five years.

Blues chief executive Greg Swann yesterday said he was aware of Fevola's decision to ban the demon drink.

"It's what Brendan has told people but the proof will be in the pudding. The proof will be in his actions" Swann said.

"But I'm pleased he has given this undertaking. He's started the process."

Fev 'swore' off the drink. Why did he do this? To show his club and his teammates that he was serious about playing football, and willing to sacrifice something to focus on the job at hand. The fact that he didn't get into trouble this time is irrelevant. Though he didn't break any laws by having a drink, it's not much of a way to show your appreciation to the football club which gave you a second chance. But given the way he's playing, I guess he can do what he likes.

Who cares? No wonder Caro writes the drivel she does

People care because others in the AFL are punished for their off field life. Why should Fev be any different?

He stuffed up, he's on his last chance, he swore off the drink and just 2 months later he is out late drinking again.

Why should he be beyond public criticism when others aren't?

Honestly, these blokes are paid CEO wages and they are porfessional athletes. Cant they stay off the grog for 6 months of the year. If a company said to me, keep off the piss for 6 months and il pay you 350K, i think id take it. You forget these guys left school in year 10 and could not spell "grog".

Yes mate, I'm sure Fev going out for the night shows a complete lack of appreciation and respect for his club and his teammates and we will fall in a heap as a result, should have his contract torn up immediately

Don't think anyone's saying he should be beyond criticism, just don't be suprised/angry when people respond to said 'criticism' (I know I take all my informed footy analysis from the HS Confidential section, lol) with "who cares" or "who gives a shit" coz, suprise suprise, not many do.

LMAO. you need to get a life dude.

Some of you guys are kidding yourselves if you think that Swann wouldn't be concerned about a report like that (Even if it is Confidential which is generally dog s**t).

FWIW its not the first time I've heard that Fev has been out on the sauce. We all know he's not a rocket scientist but it doesn't say much for his respect of the Carlton heirachy if he says one thing in March and is doing another thing in June (actually much earlier than that anyway).

I love it how a few beers and an incident-free night out = massively disrespecting the entire playing list, administration, club and establishment.

Imagine the panty-twisting that would be going on on here if he'd actually had, oh I don't know, a small verbal with some random idiot - oh my!

Any football fan stupid enough to think this blight to society would have the mental capacity or discipline to stay off the drink was absolutely kidding themselves.

Fevola isn't very bright, as good as he is on- field he's a ticking time bomb who will eventually find himself out of Carlton, no doubt about it.

It was typical Fevola in the pre- season, telling Carlton what they wanted to hear, getting everyone back up his arse again pretending all is well and good until the next indiscretion.

Fevola= The Puppet Master of Princes Park.

Fev is a magnificent player, and greatly entertaining as a character. I like the bloke. And this incident, taken in isolation, is nothing. But he has a problem controlling his drink. He doesn't CHOOSE to go off the rails when he drinks, it's what he does because he loses control. We probably all have mates or know people who are the same way. As long as Fev continues to drink, it won't be too long until the next incident. Do you really think Fev can just say, 'well, all I need to do is drink without getting sh*tfaced and making an arse of myself,' and then that's the end of it? If he can, then good luck to him. But anyone with a few brains would have to admit that if he's back on the drink, it's most likely going to end in tears... or other fluids.

I'm not surprised and really is it anyone's business what he does if he's not causing embarrassment to the club?

Hang on . . . is he?

Either his coach, CEO & team mates are liars or he's lying to them.

In the past 7 days I've heard all make comment on him "being off the drink".

Angry Much?

He did the wrong thing he promised the club he would stay off it untill the end of the year

This is just a immature act to get back at the club because Fev believes he shouldnt have rules and thinks his bigger then Carlton

Deep down Blue supporters know this just to proud to say it which is F.E

Angry much... you tell me, it seems only to have angered a few pretentious opposition supporters. Not much of what you write here makes much sense, but I suppose that is mainly due to you guys not actually knowing WTF you're talking about.

Fev never swore of alcohol. That's the media's beat-up. He did swear off getting out on the drink... or as he termed it... the sauce.

I would be concerned and disappointed if he was out late getting totally smashed, but I have seen or heard nothing that suggests this was the case, and until I do, I will refrain from indulging the hysteria that you and a few others seem to relish.

However, this said, the club should be asking him a few questions just to ensure all is kosher.
