Fevola just can't help himself - his own worst enemy. If he gets another chance it would simply be just a matter of time before he hits the headlines. And remember, we live in a world now where the journalists like to "make" the news, so that even if he doesn't actually do anything, there will be newspapers running stories about him anyway:mad:. The last thing we need.

And the difference from now will be?.....

Remember Hall's career at Footscray?

Remember Cappers short shorts? Jacksons singing career?

Fev is not what we need, we need to cultivate a full forward for the role of full forward as opposed of stop gap fillers for key positions on the ground until someone is good enough to explode with goo all over the place whilst everyone goes "OH WOW, YOU IS FREAK!"

That if he is a St Kilda player then everything he does will be a reflection of the St Kilda club and its culture. That needs to be protected given the hammering it has received in the past.
No I meant journalists already either make shit up or emphasise tenuous ties to us to smash us in the media. If we recruited Fev, nothing would change. Whats the worst that happens? We get a player who we have for half a year, sack and then get hammered by the media. No different to what happens now.

Just look at the 'St Kilda school girl (who turned out to be lying about everything but is still dubbed as such)' or 'St Kilda player Andrew Lovett'. Is that like 'West Coast player Tim Watson'? Never played a game for them but he was on their list last.

Well that's the problem with recruiting Fev. It has to change. If it doesn't it will continue to hurt us off field, which in turn hurts us on field. The team is in need of some off field discipline this year and next. Fev does not fit in with this model of behaviour.

Operation get Fev has to start immediately.
Fit Hayes and Gwilt, Fev into the team, pick up a couple of decent kids and have one last crack at it.
Be mad not to get him.

Fevola wouldn't have helped last night. He aint going to help us win our share of clearances or improve our footskills and pace in the midfield - which I what cost us against the Swans IMO. Our forward line was cluttered nearly all night and the big Fev would have cracked the sads like many forwards do.

Though I reckon he would be an assett in games where we have an open forward line like the recent Carlton and North games.

Did any of you guys watch the Casey game yesterday?

Fevola was woeful and he was losing the plot mentally.

I think the time is right for you guys to consider rebuilding.

One last crack at it could mean 10 years of heartache at the bottom if we don't inject youth next year when it could potentially mean only 2 or 3 years down the bottom thoughts?

Everyone that thinks Fev is going to come in and make the difference to us winning a flag is deluding themselves. There will be some real wholesale changes to our list for next year and we won't be competing for a flag, he's only got a couple years at best, that is if he can stay fit. You saw how hard it was for Cousins, and Cous was a fitness machine unlike Fev.

So everyone just calm down on the Fev thing for a sec and look at it realistically and realise that he's not good enough to be the difference in the next 2 years even if he can stay on the ground.

If Ross stays, I see us rebuilding in the same fasion as Sydney and Hawthorn - being around the 6-10 position for a couple of years but building the right mix of youth and trades to get back to premiership contention in the next 3-5 years. Fevola doesnt fit into that equation.

If anything we could give him a pre-season. If he gives 100% and proves to the leadership group and coaching staff that hes serious about playing AFL again with no slip ups we give him a contract. Anything less and we show him the door. All this could do is create a full on media circus and could distract our preperations. Will be interesting but I cant see it happening.

No. Fev was serious about playing footy again when he went to the lions. He'd **** it up somehow. He can't help himself.

We'd draft him and then he'd be pictured coming out of the crown casino at 5am with shewhowillnotbenamed

The aftermath of Fevola misbehaving would not ba as severe as what happened with Lovett. Whereas Lovett was treated as a St Kilda player and a reflection of our club, Fevola is already "famous" enough for his behaviour.

Should Fev go out and get drunk, get in a fight, or blow all his money, then the media, as much as they hate St Kilda, will focus on Fevola the "train-wreck" not Fevola "the St Kilda player". The journalists are salivating at the thought of Fevola messing up again and wouldn't care which club he is at.

I don't see why we can't rookie draft him. It would cost us the same as keeping Eddy did this year, who didn't even play a game. Hell, at worst he could teach Riewoldt how to use his body and act as a coverage player until someone like Walsh is ready. Go for it. If anyone can pull it off, Ross can.

We've made TOO many strategic mistakes. Don't compound them. Time to tke a risk with more youth, but not at expense of core if possible.
