1 list spot open in the MSD, what position do we need to fill the most or do we pick best available or do we pick a mature aged player.

D'Aloia seems to be pretty much what we need, or is he Dunny mkII? ( seems to be better defensively than Dunstan was ).

He was a potential first round pick even as high as top 5 in his under 17 year. Had an unspectacular draft year and missed out. Don't know what the catch was. One position inside mid maybe?

according to rookieme central:
--------------------------------------
  • Athleticism
  • Kicking under pressure
  • Speed
A lack of burst and explosiveness makes it challenging for him to get separation at stoppage, forcing many of his possessions to be under extreme pressure. While D'Aloia does a fantastic job of absorbing that pressure and executing by hand, some improvement could be made on his kicking in similar situations.

------------------------------------------

So pretty much the same downside as Worpel?
I guess that does make him a one position player.
But are we better off without any inside mids?

Please please please take a punt on someone with some untapped upside, no 3rd string mid who didn't make it because they either can't kick, can't run or can't find the ball.

Some of the blokes in the SANFL are as fat as me , it really is a poor comp so you would want to be dominating to even be worth looking at

He's playing at the Bombers this year in their VFL side.

I get the whole “mids, mids & more mids” mantra. It’s an area we are obviously deficient in.

But I’d rather take any player that has a higher likelihood of eventually becoming a senior player, than a mid who is less certain to.

Anyway, it is exciting to think we will very soon have a new Saint.

Agree. I'm really keen to see what Dalrymple's first selection at St Kilda will be, and whether we continue down the line of drafting speed, fill a need or take best midfielder available.
