I suppose when you look at it that way, it is an excellent deal. Effectively:
- Fevola for Henderson
- 27 for 12 (to even up)
Effectively it's saying that we've swapped a good young player for one of the top ten players of the competition, with a down-grade of 15 places for our first draft pick. There's no doubt that Carlton could pick up a great player with pick 12, and Henderson is certainly a great prospect. But, Fevola is a definite gun and we could still pick up a good player with pick 27.
Likewise, I think that we can also replace Henderson with some astute list management in the future. A.Cornelius looks a good prospect and there's the opportunity for us to redraft or rookie M.Tyler. They're probably not as "likely" as Henderson, but then again we are only talking about ONE player, not about us having given up multiple young guns (ie: Rich or Clark). So, whilst we may be disappointed to have had to have gone to Plan B, the deal in itself is fairly good.
However, I am fairly (read VERY) concerned as to how we're going to accomodate Brown, Fevola and Bradshaw in the team at once. It sounds bad, but I actually hope that we trade Bradshaw (and maybe another player or two) off to someone later today to avoid this issue and also free up some salary cap space.
Sydney or Collingwood, are you interested?!
Same way you accommodated Lynch, Brown and Bradshaw although I do admit the game's changed slightly since. Allows you more flexibility with Bradshaw.
