Fevola a Lion

You guys must be feeling pretty while ****ing us carlton supporters up the arse, i hope brown and fevola do their knees in the first game, **** you cfc and bfc, i will not be watching afl football any longer or writing on this stupid ****ing web site.

Apart from that being absolutely hilarious. . . . .

Brisbane mid-fielder Michael Rischitelli appears to be the only potential stumbling block in the trade to get Carlton spearhead Brendan Fevola to the Lions.
Brisbane has offered up Rischitelli and Daniel Bradshaw in return for Fevola, but the two Lions players must agree on the move before the deal can be done.
Rischitelli's manager Ricky Olarenshaw has confirmed to SEN that his client is reluctant to return to Melbourne, and will need some convincing if the trade is to be successful.

Again, we can only assume what is or has been said to everyone involved with this trade. Still at the end of the day, all 3 parties must agree for the trade to happen. They are grown men and they know that trades and delistings is part and parcel of the game. Just because a player is traded doesn't mean it sours the relationship. Im sure Voss would be fine if the trade doesn't happen, as both are quality players. But, as coach, its his job to do his best for football success of the club, and this trade has those interests in mind.

Hi Guys. I can completely understand all the negativety towards this trade, but, I formed an opinion on Fev a couple years ago after the Vic/All stars game where Fev kicked 6.2 and was named BOG. The reason I thought he was so good had a lot to do with Johnno Brown being not only the captain but also the elder (like a big brother, like do what I tell you or get you get punched sorta attitude) player in the forward line with him. From my view point atleast I can't see any reason why Fev can't perform the same way playing with Johhno with your mob.

Selling our soul for a premiership. Don't know if anyone cares, but IMHO I do. Even without Fevola, we managed to get to bottom half of the 8. With improvements from our younger brigade, we could have pushed for that top 4 in time.

Vossy has done a firesale and going out bigtime for a premiership. But trading off one of our long-serving players still leaves a bad taste. Bradshaw is the last player in our list with links to Brisbane Bears.

Completely agree mpal6, the club is setting a very bad example and treating one of its own disgracefully. Hopefully Braddy and Rischi just tell the Blues to piss off and it gets scuttled

Before all the hysteria starts does anyone here actually know what Bradshaw wants?

Did he not agreeto/sign a 2 year contract extension recently. I am sure if he wanted to go, he wouldn't have agreed to/sign the extension, but hey what should that matter. Who knows, it may be Black who gets flicked aside, Brown the year after and definitely Rich/Redden when WA/SA teams come knocking...but no, you all will be rejoicing at the fact.

If not then I think Voss is setting a very bad example by under-valuing loyalty. Yes, I'd love to win a premiership but not if we have to betray a faithful servant. Neither will that be a good example for the rest of the group. If Bradshaw can be traded is Black or Power next? Is there really a playing group where you play for each other or is everyone only out for themselves?

A trait I thought Voss held so high, playing/bleeding for the jumper is gone, why bother, regardless how good you have been for the club, the moment your form slips, gone. Voss is creating a new regime I absolutely despise.

GET REAL. As if Voss would say to Rischitelli, that his contract was not going to be renewed. I believe that would be a journo taking a comment out of context. Its not like his some bloke that is borderline out of the team altogether. If he refused, and he was forceably moved on, he would go to Melbourne, but it would be for the Melbourne Football Club. If Michael Rischitelli doesn't want to go, Michael Rischitelli will be at Brisbane, or he will walk. Its what happens when people force the issue.

That's why I believe Voss hasn't forced the issue. It is an offer, and if either of these two say no, then it is back to the drawing board.

I think you're being a little melodramatic. You don't know what's being offered to Bradshaw - is he not allowed to change his mind if a better offer comes along?

Ultimately supporters won't know what happens behind the scenes but we have to assume that management knows what it is doing and is acting in the best interests of the club.

Okay, it is possible that Bradshaw was happy to stay or go. He signed a deal to stay (or just agreed to terms) but when the possibility of this deal came about he was happy to return to Victoria.

WE DON'T KNOW WHAT BRADSHAW IS THINKING!

I could get angry at Voss for offering up Brown for trade for Daniel Bell and would have basically the same information as you do here to base my hysteria...

:thumbsu: AND we have to assume that player managers are operating in the best interests of players. If Bradshaw and Rischitelli agree to the trade, well and good. If they don't, then they won't be traded and Brisbane will need to try to put another deal together. The players do get a say in what happens.

Go Lions.

Yeah I can hear everyone say there's no sentiments and its all business decisions. But I am not used to Lions dealing this way. Atleast not under Leigh Matthews. We are not known for throwing away players and chase big names, that kind of approach, I just hope it doesn't come back n bite us.
We have Clark, Rich, Leuenberger, Cornelius and a queue of youngsters watching this unfold. We are not setting a great example at the moment. They can turn around and take a business decision too. No point rolling over and crying then.
I completely agree.

Having said that, the Lions are my team, and I will stick by them no matter what

Ok, the worst MS Paint job EVER (and my first real attempt so back off guys:p). You get the picture, just imagine Braddy being played down back on Browny! OOOooh, wouldn't love to see THAT!!:D There is another upside, lol.

Apologies to Bradshaw, we all know you're guns are bigger than that! ;)
No apologies to Carlton, I didn't even check what your guernsey looks like. Don't care.

i know many of you lions supporters don't want Fev because of his personailty - but if u are getting him for only Bradshaw and Rischitelle is a absolute bargain - surely their must be another traded in there somewhere a swap of picks of urs 1st rounder and their second rounder perhaps?

The lines on Bradshaws pants are just sensational - and kudos for not just pasting Bradshaw's head on a Carlton defender's body, but painting in the Carlton guernsey as well - full marks BL! :p :thumbsu:

Ha, ha. Thanks GG! Must confess, I spent half an hour looking for such a picture and couldn't find one.

After thinking about Voss telling Riska he wont have a contract next year so he might as well take the trade, there is probably some truth to it. I believe we have to use 2 players to make room to pay for Fev, so perhaps at the end of next year when Riska needs his contract renewed, we wouldn't have the money to do so, and this is what Voss is refering to. Not so much that he is threatening him, but just letting him know, you might be squeezed out anyway due to salary cap.

However, with the GC coming in, if Riska wanted to stay, he would be a prime target for the GC, and it means he gets to stay up in SEQ with his GF.

Whoa, let's settle down a bit here. ALL players, at least those upright and breathing [an old CES term] makes decisions in his best interests alone- nothing else.

"Selling our soul"- IIRC, Bradshaw held off on re signing until he got the deal he wanted. I can't recall the precise details, but I think one or two other clubs were brought into the equation to harden up contract negotiations. Presumably Bradshaw got the deal he wanted, in his best interests, and that's as it should be. It's a bit rich to complain about the club acting in ITS best interests.

As to "not setting a great example", see the above. Hadley pulled the pin when it was in his best interests, after the club had nursed, and presumably paid him during, a long term rehab. Headland went when he wanted to, same with Aker [incidentally, interested to see Aker is now on half of his last salary- presumably the Dogs have acted in THEIR best interests?]. Does anyone think Judd went to Carlton for the love of the club- HE WENT FOR THE $$$$$$$, most of which, from what anyone can gather, falls outside the salary cap:ie, a "business decision".

Everyone should get real- ever since Barassi went to Carlton all those years ago, club loyalty took a back seat. It's now a multi-million $ business. Players no longer sign for the price of a new suit [as Royce Hart did].

I'll always follow the Lions, through thick and thin. There were lots of things Leigh did that I disagreed with, but that's life. I'm confident Voss etc don't consult these pages before they make decisions, and I'm prepared to give him a go.

I guess that after a few seasons if Voss proves to have made some dud decisions the club will make a business decision.

What the hell!!..If this is true, then I have lost all faith in our club!..Didn't they say at B+F that they weren't interested, not happening?

Secondly, unless Bradshaw WANTED to come home, to trade him now after being such a long + loyal Lion is a disgrace!

The headline on Her/Sun website is "Lions closing in on Fevola" by Mike Sheahan at 4.37p.m...

I'm seething if this is true, and feel betrayed as a supporter, that these people at the top think they can tell us one thing, fob us off, then turn around and do the opposite..

No respect shown to supporters at all..
Here, Here!!

Think you'll find some circumstances changed. We would have put an offer in early on Fev, which was quickly refused by the Blues. After that we signed Braddles back up, but now the Blues i think have realised they aren't getting any better offers, so have come back and said they will look at it.

We just can't jump to conclusions as we are not involved with the trades or running on the club (even though many think they do). There is plenty of 'unknowns' but at the end of the day, Voss is the coach, he has a plan and he is seeing it through. We aren't selling everyone down the river, we are giving some guys an opportunity that works in with the club, the players involved in this trade can disagree if they want, but i think, certainly in riskas case, he has been told it will be very hard to keep him on at the end of next year within our cap, and to me, that is Voss looking out for one of our younger players and saying, we might not have the opportunity for you here after next year, this is a great chance and a decent club if you take it, and no doubt he would get a decent offer as well.

It is an emotional time being that one of our club greats in Bradshaw is involved with this trade, but lets not go overboard withe club losing its morals etc, we as fans and posters have no insight on the matter, and are only going off our own opinion on what the 'think' is happening.

To me, this year Voss got a great look at the young guys and likes what he saw, he knows we are close to a top 4 team, and is doing things to address that and have a decent shot at a flag while our other current stars are around, which to me now is the best time to do it, when the next 3-4 drafts are ravaged by new teams. Good on Voss for having a vision for the club and going hard at it to get what he wants.
