I don't know if I'm going to even bother with UT. I have barely any coins, and my squad isn't good enough to play online matches to get them. Add to the fact that the contracts of my players runs out so I have to sell them, which I can't because they're poorly rated. Maybe I'll have to buy coins, which I don't really want to.

As a casual gamer, One thing I'm loving are the sliders. I started with Everton on career mode and lost my first 8 games and could only score via a penalty.
played around with the marking/acceleration sliders and increased the difficulty to World Class and now loving the game.

Into my second season now (sim'd last 10 games of season 1) and sitting in 6th place after 12 games.
My last 3 games .. Smashed mid-table Newcastle 5-1, needed a late extra time goal to draw with 19th placed Wigan 1-1 and just got outclassed by Liverpool 3-1. Very enjoyable knowing I have to play and defend well every game to beat the AI. Subotic is a gun defender :thumbsu:

Theoklitos
Fabio - Subotic - Mustafi - Gueye
M'vila
Cahill - Bilyaletinov
Walcott - Baxter - Afellay

Apparently people are having problems with the new defending system and the collision engine which appears to be buggy

This. :(

Have been a massive fan of FIFA for years, and I am quite disappointed with it because of the new defending system. I like the idea in theory, but EA has gone waaay too conservative with the ability to actually get close enough or have enough time to tackle your opponent properly. I'm all for strategic play, but they've overdone it here IMO.

On top of that, the slide tackle is now virtually useless as it never friggin' connects with your opponent. It always seems to glitch through the player you're attempting to tackle, allowing them to run on into space whilst you get to your feet. Even happens when you're goal side, running head on. Just on that, i've played about 15-20 games in Manager Mode with a mate, and we've conceded a grand total of 2 yellow cards. WTF?!

Also, the crosses can be majorly unpredictable when they'd otherwise be on target in FIFA 11/10 et. al.

The only major improvement I can see is in the Manager Mode, which has had a major overhaul, and is much more in depth and interactive than in the previous installments. :thumbsu:

i like the new defending system, just need a LOT of work on it

oh that's fine centre back, just stand there and do nothing because i'm not controlling you

oh thats fine player i'm controlling, practically fall over every time i press O

oh thats fine player i'm switching to, just stand still even though I'm trying to get you to run

I've gone the hard way and started with Heart on pro, so I can learn quicker. Once you get used to it, you realise how basic the other system was.

Lag ruins online season mode.

They really should have an option where both online players choose to friendly forfeit with both getting the draw. So painful sitting through a game with serious lag.

No. Players could easily "boost" and get up through the ranks very easily.

Hardly, this isn't COD we are talking about, crap players get found out so how high your ranked means nothing if you suck. It's just pointless playing game after game with lag that makes the game unplayable

I'm loving everything about just about everything so far.

UT is ****ing amazing. Can't believe I'm so wrapped up in it already, it's brought back my love for FIFA that really waned with last years version.

I've edited the controls to suit my own style much more and I feel I've got a much more solid grasp of the defensive set up now (basically just moved teammate contain to square and standing tackle to X - regular contain is at R1).

The AI can still be ridiculous at times, but now that I've got time to be a tiny bit more patient it can pay off very handsomely. Although I definitely think they're a little bugged when they start running back with the ball for a good 20-30 yards and then kick it out of bounds near your penalty box, gives a huge advantage sometimes and I have scored or had numerous scoring opportunities from there as well.

So far, one day in and I can easily see why IGN gave this a 9.5. It's really immaculately polished, incredible presentation, fantastic sound and the gameplay really has a great learning curve to it again.

Also really loving the attention that has been put into the A-League this year, the majority of players ACTUALLY look like their real life counterparts.

And giving players points for leaving accomplishes nothing, as people will exploit it.

One of those quick fixes that only makes the situation worse. The best solution is better servers, but hey, this is EA we're talking about.

I like UT, but may I ask why you love it so much? Get a Messi in your pack or something?

UT is awesome but contracts need to go, I don't think they really add any element other than to shit you off.
Because it's manager mode without the schedule's and strict formats.

It's always changing and always keeping you having to manage this and that. It's super arcadey as well. And I love scouting the options to find the best player for great value.

The contracts are basically in place of stamina from the Manager Mode. Although I find the contracts easier to manage.

And opening a new card pack brings the same sensation it did when I was a kid opening a pack of footy cards.

Fair enough man, I gotta get into it a bit more. I just have no idea what to do. I got Downing and Jagielka plus a bunch of other gold players. Whats your best way of making money?

The bolded part is something I definitely agree with and I think I said the same thing a while ago on this page. They are so frustrating but so fun.
