I think the white shorts with home jumper was maximum contrast in this case. And it looked great in my opinion. Richmond always look the goods in white shorts imo

Home/white is maximum contrast? Dunno how you come to that conclusion when Richmond have the option of a bright yellow jumper. That is maximum contrast.

I assume the AFL weigh up tradition vs maximum contrast when directing teams which uniform to wear. Usually when it comes to the Big 4 Victorian clubs, tradition wins out. For expansion clubs maximum contrast wins out as they have very little tradition.

Any official word yet on the Swans strip for tonight?
If they follow the VFL Final between the two clubs last week they'll be in the South Melbourne jumper with red shorts.

Oh well I sort of excluded that because from my recollection they've never worn it against the Lions. But yeah you're right their clash would be the most contrasting kit.

Surely after 20-30 years, excluding Gold Coast and GWS, is traditional enough 🤷‍♂️

Swans in home kit.

Would love to see the South V brought out instead but maybe it's only for regular season, not finals
We're very stingy on our SYDNEY branding, probs why it took so long to adopt the V regularly.
Sad we its not here tonight but will be good seeing the Opera House in all the papers and promo from this game

Honestly, aside from the Grand Final, all Melbourne games should be in the South V. Same as how all Melbourne games for Brisbane bar the GF should be in the Fitzroy kit

Maybe not a widely held opinion but I don’t love the contrast in Melbourne vs Sydney games when they’re both in their full home kits.

Two teams with red yokes, both have red on the back, both have white numbers.

There are better options.

I agree, Sydney should wear a white back jumper or the V with white shorts for this game

Geelong went back to the jumper they used prior to the Bulldogs match no more Everest on the back.
