Probably this is the most appropriate thread to post this as it is about making finals this year

What exactly will Richmond achieve by scraping into the finals in 2023 without Lynch
Most likely if we do make it we may get 1 win at best and be bundled out the 2nd week finishing 5/6

Im not really too fussed if we make it or not this year and if we dont and finish 9-11 we will get a more favorable draw with our injured players back and a new coach and have a real shot at it.

Just thoughts

We get finals experience for the younger players.

One reason we won the flag in 2017 was because most of our players experienced finals in 2013,14,15 as younger players and learned from it.

Yeah this has been my attitude past month or 2. Be a great experience. I’d like to see the team play well but finals isn’t the be all this year. Haven’t got a first round draft pick so may as well keep winning

100% this. Gibcus was completely overawed in the EF last year. They need to get used to playing when it counts.

Its a bit of a double edged sword though

By making finals this year and getting a harder fixture with more young players then they may not make finals next year with the difference of having the harder draw.

Sure we will always try to win and make finals as thats a given but not really that important this year imo

correct me if im wrong, dont they do the fixture according to the 6:6:6 concept? So teams placing 7-12 will get more or less get an equal fixture in terms of difficulty. Meaning making finals and losing week one wouldnt affect it anyway.

It's ALWAYS better to make finals IMO. A winning culture is critical. The draw difficulty won't change unless we finish top 6, even then it's still a bit of a lottery.

Plus the higher we finish the lower pick we coughed up for Hopper.

Carlton were a massive pick tonight. Nobody is really travelling this year and it’s wide open. Just got to get on a roll and fall in and you never know. Our list unfortunately isn’t as good as the Blues as they’re younger, faster and more skilled. We needed to bite the bullet on our veterans six weeks ago.

This year - maybe

Next year - no chance

It's why i am weary of paying Mini on other peoples systems and foundations. I am not sure what ethos or unique quality he actually brings to the table to making this machine tick. At the moment, it basically sounds like its all "just a new voice" & he has found a way to get this bunch of guys to pull together and play out the season in a respectable way. I mean we are 7-2, with a percentage of 100.01% - we are eeking out wins, at best. I see not "exciting new systems" - what does this look like in 2 years?

How will that help next year when we likely fall to bottom 4-5? how fresh will his voice still sound then? What will he bring to the situation that is unique and different?
