Why has Allen Christensen drifted from possible top ten to late 2nd round at the earliest?

Its just my opinion but he reminds me of a better version of Matthew Stokes. I know I am underselling him but small blokes like him rarely get drafted high unless they have exceptional pace. Anyway time will tell but I see him as a slider.

I reckon the Tigers will be looking to Vickery, Riewoldt, Post, Morton, maybe Rance and even promoting Gourdis as taller forwards, but needing another A class midfielder to go with Deledio, Cotchin and learn from Cousins whilst he's there.

5 years each for Frawley & Wallace have done nothing for the Tigers.
Personally after thinking about Richmonds situation, they won't give up Martin for exactly the same reasons you bring. Post will start to play forward IMO. I think they will be praying for Sheppard at pick 19. He could take over Rance's/Post's position as I think they will both play forward next year.

In the next ten days there will be much speculation about which players are firming and which are drifting in the draft.

There are countless phantom drafts up at the moment and most have the same top 10 players but just shuffled around with a further group of 10-15 following. We have already seen this year John Butcher's rating drop from being a certain top 2 pick to now around the 5-9 mark. Similarly we have also seen Aaron Black become the late mover as Mitch Brown was last year to now being touted as a genuine top 12-15 pick.

Here is the thread to post any late movements either you think will happen or you have heard through the grapevine that may be on the cards.

For me - and I have absolutely no direct information to verify it - but going on feel as much as anything I reckon a few things may happen on draft day:

1. Luke Tapscott will drop to be taken between 19-23. In 80% of the phantoms I have read he is taken by either Adelaide or Port in the top 10 picks.

2. A couple of Geelong kids in Callum Bartlett and Jasper Mcmillan-Pittard will be late firmers. It has been speculated in afl.com.au about Barlett today but I reckon he may well go know between 12-17. JMP will be taken early in the second round.

3. Allen Christensen will be a mid to late 2nd round pick at the earliest.

What are you're late moves. Even if you have already posted phantoms what significant changes would you make now?

I hope Tom Scully falls, undeserving number 1.

he needs to be a four or five.

Tapscott is massively overrated, because he's big and he can kick it a mile.

I wouldn't even want him with picks 22/23, there'll be better players available even that deep in the draft.

Why? It sounds kind of like Rich last year.

Just because he may have less scope for improvement than some of the other kids (and people are basing this solely on the fact he has a developed body, rather than anything else) people don't rate him that highly. He might not be in the top 10 best players 10 years after this draft, but there is a very good chance he'd be up there with the best first year players from the draft, and unless the club that drafts him has no development program (which of course, every club has) I don't see why he doesn't have similar scope for improvement when compared to other potential draftees.

I would be pretty surprised if he was not selected in the first 20 picks.

Just my two cents.

Sure thing. The top 5 isn't even settled but one player knows he's going to go to a club which doesn't have a pick until number 30:rolleyes:

I'd compare Tapscott's kicking to Matt Rosa; long kick, but not penetrating. Rich is more similar to Shannon Hurn in that he kicks the ball low and fast.

all that we would nees after that is gawn at 44

Kennedy to be gone by the end of the 2nd round

Sorry, I probably should have been a bit clearer - I wasn't comparing his kicking to Rich (besides that they are both known as big kicks) more so the comparison of why people feel Tapscott may slide - due to his developed body which for some reason translates into no scope for improvement (or less than others).

Hurn also had a very developed body and slid quite a way compared to where he probably should have been selected - probably again due to his apparent lack of scope for improvement.

If anything, I'd take it as a clear demonstration of their ability and desire to work hard in the weights room, and it would probably increase a potential draftee's standing in my eyes. Especially for a private school kid like Tapscott.
