I find it a little ironic that Collingwood would now start complaining about the teams they are scheduled to play twice.

FFS, the so called "blockbuster" matchups and other compromises made to assist you like the Queens Birthday, determine the majority of your away games every bloody year!

You were happy with this deal when those teams were shit, now you're whinging?

Fair dinkum!

How does the QB assist us? It's been Melbourne's home game since 2001, and the flexible fixture (not like the R16-22 of years past) means that it has no bearings on who we play twice/etc. Check the facts first.

Port have done ok by the draw - nothing major to whinge about.

I think that Adelaide have a great first 8 rounds, but their last 8 as a group are tough as a run home.
Eagles in Perth, Geelong AAMI, Port Adel AAMI Showdown, Richmond at the 'G, Bulldogs at AAMI, Brisbane at the Gabba, Collingwood at the 'G, St Kilda at AAMI.
Ouch.

It might not have a bearing on who you play twice but it guarantees you another game in Melbourne.

I also said away games - "determine the majority of your away games every bloody year"

Can you please respond to what is written, not what your paranoid delusions lead you to read.

Blockbusters are only one part of equation. There's also stadium deals that guarantee numbers of games, etc but it's also the flow on effect of other compromises.

It's not just Collingwood that cause the draw to be so compromised.

Yeah. Point?

You do realise Carlton & Essendon also have it as their home ground?
Essendon yes, Carlton is a 6/5 split with the G.

I for one encourage a tough draw. It will benefit is to fight harder for a spot in the top 4. This way we can truly evaluate where we are as a club.

It is essentially a charity for Melbourne. They want it, they champion it as their big game of the year, etc, etc. It gives us another MCG match. Only a fool would turn it down, even though it can be grating how clubs can sweep the cash off the floor when we play them.

On a point of order, Mr Speaker: Why does Johnson#26 quote us all anonymously?

Because I cb going through the whole 'click quote' thing when I can just copy and paste it into a quick reply.

Happy with our fixture; most of the good teams at home, most of the bad ones away.

Means we have to earn a spot in the finals, rather than get a few easy home games and slink in.

If anyone says Collingwood have a easy ride this year then they can piss off.
play 5 of the top 8 from this year twice and Hawks twice. Tough fixture.
At least it will put a stop to people saying we get looked after.

St Kilda and Adelaide would be very very happy with their fixture.

Why would Saints be happy?

9x6 day breaks (AFL gave us 11 in 07...suggesting that would never happen again)
again get Essendon after they have an 8 day break for at least 3 yrs running......
Of the 9 6 day breaks - in 4 cases our opponents get 7+ days...
Only 2 games at G ? wtf? interstate sides get more
6 times interstate - 2 WA ,2 SA.
5 flipping useless "twighlight" games.......

This is an AFLdisgrace -not just for us but the integrity of the comp....it seriously skews results...

Why the fk would Geelong only have to go interstate 5 times and get 4 MCG games against top drwing sides plus 8 at that mickey mouse stadium when their second home is supposedly Etihad?

AFL is a joke.

Hey if you could draw a bigger crowd to the g like the pies you could play 22 games there.

i haven't done the study of other teams, who ended up being the dome bitch? hawthorn only getting 3 there is a massive win!

The draw is a complete joke. The AFL have decided to give a free ride to Collingwood yet AGAIN. Essendon haven't done anything for years and we get just about the toughest draw of the lot.

Wouldn't mind some fairness and equity in the fixture for once.

You might want to have another look at the fixture and explain why Essendon's draw is apparently so much tougher than Collingwood's?

Seriously is the Herald Sun taking the piss with these constant articles about Essendons "horror "draw?

One moron writer even suggested in his article playing Carlton and Hawthorn twice was part of the "horror" run despite the fact we beat them up 4 times this year.

A "horror" draw for Essendon would be playing bogy sides like North, Port Adelaide, Richmond twice and 5 interstate trips.

Hi guys and girls.

I've updated my fixture builder with the 2010 dates.

It builds CSV, iCal and PDF fixtures to import into Outlook/Thunderbird/Google Calendar/etc. Obviously the PDF is for printing!

You can customise your calendars, set reminders, categories, etc.

I have also built iCal (ics) calendars you can subscribe to, which will be updated with scores etc. once the season has started.

To create a customised calendar, go to: http://www.thismonkey.com/cgi-bin/football-fixture.pl?start=2010&end=2010&type=ha&code=afl

and to subscribe to 2010 calendars, go to: http://offsite.thismonkey.com/fixtures/afl/calendars/aus/2010/index.html

Please leave feedback if you like it, hate it, or think it needs improvement.

(You can find other football codes at http://www.thismonkey.com)

Thanks,
Go Pies,
Scott

. . . even though it can be grating how clubs can sweep the cash off the floor when we play them.

And just when you think you've reached the bottom of the intellectual food-chain, another Collingwood supporter pops their head up parroting the usual claptrap spun by their president.

What is grating is the lack of independent thought.
