Flu bug strikes again

My information is that there were more players with a viral infection, probably not the flu ( but it sounds more dramatic), last week that this week.

I wonder whether this is just a little psychological ploy by the AFC

At least we'll have some players who will not be affected by the trip to Subi.

I still think we're better than Collingwood and we'll win by 29 points, similar to what happened in the Wizard Cup

Cheers,

a.j.

Sorry, Kane McG. This is the first AFC thread I've ever looked at, much less posted on. Boundless hatred for Collingwood (and a secret respect for 2 or 3 of your players!) has impelled me over here. I do hope you get over them tonight, and leave them weakened in spirit and body.

That's what I would expect from a Port supporter....nothing less...

"Collingwood not travelling that well at the moment??" Gawdddd if your definition of moment is one week then I accept that but won our six games prior to that so I gather that would hardly be struggling........

They all have FLU shots but it doesn't stop you from getting every strain of the virus. Also it must be remembered that week Burns & McLeod had the virus - the rest of the squad then travelled in a confined space with these lads to Perth & back - plus Bodey was chucking his guts up and he was on there flight over. It is no wonder a couple of the lads have caught the bug. Oh well we fight with what we have.

Yes i realize they would have had a flu jab kb it was just my way of letting off a bit of frustration,

still think there would be no harm in a good old Vick's Vapor rub, ;)

Sandola, no need to be sorry, your welcome here anytime! :) Unfortunately I think the Pies will win, but I'll be very happy if I get this game wrong in my footy tipping. See you in the Grand Final.

This is the kind of thing that I hate to happen to a team. I am only surprised that it does not happen more considering how close the teams have to be on planes, training and most probably have a meal together.

Secretly I am hoping it is a furfy and get Collingwood off guard.

Pfft Rucci smoochy

You should have told him to get ****ed stupid port ****er.

I would have loved to. :D

Rucci is [Removed by request. - Adrian], but on this particular topic he is correct.

He repeated what he told me Thursday in the Advertiser and on 5AA this morning and pointed out that we have won only 1 of our last 16 games against these 3 teams who all play the same game plan against us.

It burns my arse to repeatedly lose to teams like Collingwood who I don't believe have anywhere near the quality of player that the Crows do. It is all related to game plan.

Our game plan is inflexible. We automatically bomb it long into the forward line even though the opposition have 2 loose players in our forward line. They rebound it into an open forward line and score much more easily.

Watch Port Adelaide's method of combatting a flood and you'll see what we should do. They hold, hold, hold and if something doesn't present itself they chip sideways until the opening comes.

It's called patience.

Adjust our game plan for this aspect and we will beat these 3 teams.

Yeah this was especially noticable last night. We have a play on at all costs mentality. Which is exciting to watch, and looks great when it works. But geez it cost us last night when it played right into Collingwood's hands. We just needed some players to stop when they took their marks and look at the options.

macca23, the style that Port play (thier chipping game) breaks down come finals time. There is no question we need to address some minor things but overall its not too bad. Our major fault is that we do not deliver the ball very well to our forwards. Fact is we haven't in 3-4 years. I am all for playing long out of our defence to HF but once we get to the HF line take your time to pick the best option but the down side is that if you take time to pick a player the opposition floods back and we are screwed.

And this crap of going down the wings and delivering the ball wide to our forwards is really starting to piss me off big time.

Agree with some of those points,

But as for copying the Paps style of chipping back & sideways no thank you & the only thing that i would like our players to take from them is their disposal they very rarely miss a leading forward & seem to always deliver out in front of the eyes not like a lot of our guys who make it bloody hard for the likes of Carey & Perrie,
