Fluff Pieces for Pre-Season

Back to the topic, I have got used to overly-optimistic fluff, but what I don't like is mealy-mouthed comments that take us for fools. I suppose I should be specific: before and during the process when Ben Davies was traded, several officials around the club made disingenuous statements such as, "It's crunch time for Ben...," and later, "Ben probably figured that his future lay elsewhere so he opted to move on..." A simple statement such as, "It just didn't work out so he's trying elsewhere," would be adequate. I think we all saw it coming. Yes, officials have to be politically correct of course, one of the reasons I wouldn't be able to do their job, but I hate being taken for a fool.

It basically comes down to the question of 'what else can you talk about?'. If this sort of stuff happens, the club remains dormant until the NAB Cup, which I doubt anyone really wants. Hope springs eternal right now, and with good reason.

BTW, it sure as anything beats the week between rounds 17-18. ;)

Clubs don't want to be dormant through the off season. It's marketing and it's good business. They need to keep us all interested, they need to give us hope for the future so we stay loyal. I don't have a problem with it as all clubs do it right down to your local leagues with the likes of out of town recruits.
I'm with you Johnson#26. Hope springs eternal right now.

You know the Type the Interview a Player and make him sound like a Superstar. They just did it with Bennell. They make him sound like he could be the next big thing but How much are the Artcile Truth or Just is it Hype.

I just not sure what to believe with those sorts of Articles.

Your thoughts on Pre-Season Fluff Pieces?

Ahhhhh fluff.
Is this not the Feather Duster calling the Kitten fluffy?

Yeah, didn't you start a thread saying how Beams is like Pendlebury?

Dave, you should get a job at the Herald Sun and be the Chief of fluff! :D

Would love to do that but don't think my Grammer would be good enough but I would probably know as much as some at the Hearld Sun

^
Dave, that's what spell checkers are for! :D

Anyways, you'd probably know more than most, atleast we we be guaranteed more Collingwood articles with you there!

They are like cheap cask wine to an alcoholic.... you know it is rubbish yet when you don't have access to anything better it makes you feel good

Exactly! At this time of year, you need some news, and almost anything will do, about players and the club. The NAB game against WC is only weeks away, and I am so looking forward to seeing the skills of our new players on display.

As NAB account holder, I normally shiver at the mention of their name, but I make an exception for the pre-season cup.
