very disappointing, and a bit under the radar.
Anyone know when this happened?

I read somewhere that he actually left ages ago...during the season I think. His building work is going really well and he didn't have the time. Don't think it was recently. Lazy journalism.

good point, just a name that came to mind. is there anyone else in the VFL mate you would chase?

Depends on what kind role we are filling but Matt Embling who was at Sandy this year would be very good replacement for Jaymie Graham or in the academy. Even Brendan Allen who was Dev Squad coach and senior assistant be good as all Saints get along with them and know them well.

Apart from that apart from Ayres don't really think. I wonder if Simon McPhee could be VFL coach & academy director? Kind of seems like its same type of job!

Given the state of the alliance, wouldn't that be a conflict of interest?

Embling no cos he isnt employed by Sandy anymore but yea BA might be. I'm sure Zebs wouldn't stand in his way of he got offered job at Saints though

Right.. thanks for that.

Not sure bout that cos he was still there game days and at few training late in season I attended. He might told them during season but he was definently still around

hmm, okay.. I guess what I'm interested in is the inference that he was part of the "exodus"

I have done a google and couldn't find any articles referencing Max leaving....therefore its likely IMO that there is nothing sinister about his departure, otherwise Caro would have mentioned it by now ;)

I had the pleasure of playing with Stan for a season after he had finished up at North Melbourne. He was still playing brilliant football and was totally professional at training even at the age of 33. He was an absolutely awesome bloke and he was great with the young guys at our club. I reckon he would be excellent at the Saints as an assistant coach, with the amount of experience he has and with his many 'left of centre' ideas. I have met him a few tiimes in recent years and he always talks fondly of his time at St Kilda, so I reckon he might be open to coming back to the club.

Max is a dud. Didn't exactly turn Stanley into an AA defender as was expected. :)

RE: Thompson. pretty sure that he married into a savvy business family, so he has some top notch advisors and mentors.

yep about Thompson

dont know about Max

Love the idea of bringing Stan Alves back, make it happen St Kilda

On a side note, I commented about Richo playing his cards right and making the club chase him... and how it's better to be wanted as opposed to neeeding the job.

There is no greater example of this than with Alves. Poor old Stan was the accidental coach IMO and never really embraced. It was ll about Barker becoming senior coach until he tragically passed away. Stan happened to fill the void as he was our skills coach at the time IIRC. The club acted hastily in sacking him, and then went about employing fkcn Watson.

Pretty sure that Plympton said he wanted someone with good values, hence Watson... a person who supposedly mirrored everything good about Barker.

His reign got us some low draft picks, but he apparently pushed us into Beetham as a draft pick ahead of who JB wanted.

St Kilda has appointed former Carlton and North Melbourne player and West Coast Eagles Assistant Coach David Teague to its senior coaching panel.

Teague will join the Saints as its defensive line coach for 2014.

This appointment comes as Saints Player Academy Manager, Tony Micale advised the Club that he would like to return home to Perth at the end of this year.

Defacto, wasn't Teague highly regarded amongst the younger guys at the eagles?
Great appointment saints!
