I knew Peter Rhode was never going to be a good head coach because he was pretty nervous every time he was interviewed. He would then have to talk to 40 professional athletes and staff. But that same person can still be an excellent communicator in smaller groups and one on ones. Right role for the right person is important.
Bevo was a bit of a train wreck early days in the media, he came a long way. tbf I still don’t know what he’s rambling on about half the time but at least he’s more confident these days 😂

Rhodey didnt need poise, confidence, or communication skills, as he was a 'mastermind', our mastermind:D

The two guys I would like to get as assistants would be Blake Caracella - midfield (given everything happening at Bumbers he maybe gettable ) and Jaymie Graham - Forward line coach but highly unlikely he would be gettable but he did a good job with West Coast both as a forward line coach and backline coach.
Jaymie is going to Port potentially if C4 is to be believed.

Strong d***head vibes with Scarlett from everything I’ve heard about him, he’s not overly popular outside a handful of old team mates.

Not saying he can’t coach, but he’s hard to get along with.

Didn't he have a part time stint with us under Macca's reign and fcuked off as soon as Geelong offered him something and didn't he and Mooney have a go at us for being soft and not being able to handle criticism when Macca got the arse?

I hope the club goes hard for Rutten when he inevitably loses his job this week.
Essendon will want him to resign now so they don't have to pay him 600K for next year? Talk about screwing things up.... I'd love truck with us BTW

Rutten was defensive coach for Essendon when they were horrible in defensive transition.
He was also defensive coach at Richmond from 2015 to the end of 2018.

You could give Jesus Christ the head coaching role at Esssendon but because of their list, player management, board, culture etc he still wouldn't be able to win a final for them.

If he had anything to do with Tigs premiership defence sign him up, they were awesome.

Although it’s a lot easier to play an effective zone defence when you also play a high pressure, turnover based ground defence… as we also did in 2016.

On the other hand playing a hands-off, no pressure, back off the mark full ground defence probaaaably doesn’t bode well for your zone defence inside def 50.

Why can’t the club see this when it’s so obvious?

Correct.

He’s a terrible bloke, nothing lost by him leaving.

Tigers were suffering similar problems now to dogs last year. Their high pressure in the midfield and forward had mostly fallen away exposing their defense. When the pressure is on the defense holds ups better.

How would Bevo feel about having a phenomenal footy IQ assistant?
I'd like to think he'd embrace the opportunity but I worry the chemistry wouldn't be right.

Chris Grant director of football Hey Bevo do you have a problem with a player like Robbie Grey coming to the dogs he has played 218 games and kicked 318 goals

Bevo not sure if he can replace Marcus Webb he has played 3 games for Bendigo reserves and is currently helping out with Auskick on the weekends :)

I mean if we’re worried about our head coach gelling with somebody because of their “high footy IQ” what hope do we have? Do we only hire people with low IQs? 😂

IQ of an assistant coach appointed to the Western Bulldogs is not related to IQ it is linked to their pay scale CHEAP AS CHIPS :)
