Footballers you've met that are Morons

I thought Tony Shaw was a moron when I went to a handball comp he was running at K-Mart when I was a kid. Didn't let me and my brother have a go because the prize was Collingwood gear and we wouldn't want it

Matty Armstrong used to live near by and is a top bloke

I play basketball against Stephen Allesio, Simon Madden and Michael Long and they all seem alright. Madden is always really friendly before and after the game

I haven't spoke too much to any of the Dogs but Stephen Powell was always nice, and Steve Wallis and Chris Grant are legends

And Simon Minton-Connell is the greatest man the planet earth has ever seen

I've meat a few blokes, Hird, Lloyd, Sheedy. Hird & Sheedy are the funniest two blokes. :D There awesome.

Met quiet a few of the Melbourne guys, Miller was really nice.

Meat Jason Akermanis and Simon Black when I was in QLD. Both good blokes. Simon Black had his fiance/wife/gf along with him, oh my, she never shutted up, I swear.

Kent Kinglsey, one of the nicest blokes I've ever met.

Peter Riccardi was a bit weird at first but then was a very nice guy.

Andrew Mackie is also a pretty cool lad.

I met Gary Ablett at an in-store appearance at Safeway when I was young. He refused to sign a book I brought with me cos it was one of those unauthorised biographies (fair point, i guess). He was happy to sign my guersney which is till safely tucked away in a drawer somewhere.

Not a footballer but Brian Cook was also very nice to help me out with an assignment.

* Peter Riccardi (Arrogant but stupid sod, thankfully a few life experiences have mellowed him)

* Clint Bizzell (Nice enough bloke, but the epitome of a moron)

* David Spriggs (Unbelievably rude bloke who has his head up his own arse)

Justin Longmuir. He was an absolute faaarkwit.

I had an encouter with him at the Commercial Club in Melbourne on a Saturday night a few years ago, when all the Fremantle players went there for a drink after they had won thier first game for the year against Hawthorn.

I was speaking to a bunch of friends at a table when he started to pour beer down the back of my shirt to get a couple of laughs from Paul Haselby. One of my friends told him to sod off so he started to verbally abuse her. It didn't stop there. I got cornered by him and someone else at the bar where he proceeded to stir me up more and more as I was speaking to the bar staff. He was looking for a fight which is really tough considering I'm five foot four and he's six foot plus.

By this stage though I'd had enough and spoke to a couple of Bouncers. They didn't know who he was so they made the bar staff stop giving him beer. I figured that had to hurt him the most.

It stopped after that but as I left he gave me some parting words and the bird.

I still to this day don't know what set him off, yet I only know that out of the many footballers I've met he was the worst.

 What A F***H***. :(

moron footballers

i try not to think about the players ive met that were knobs. however, some of the nicer blokes ive met are jason snell (spent loads of time with the kids and disabled supporters at every function ive seen him at). clint bizzell (genuinely nice guy whos always up for a chat and is **** funny) and john worsfold (hate the eagles, but a really pleasant bloke)

Ben Cousins is a champion, met him in subi with a few mates while pretty ****ed. Had a chat for a little while about his days as a geelong supporter and how the eagles were going. Good Bloke.

Andrew Browne is a top bloke. Met him at a mates BBQ a few years ago and had a chat about how he was going at the dockers. He's a genuine and says it like it is.

Daniel Kerr is an absolute knob. I've met the guy at Club Bay Spew and he acts like a spoilt moviestar. Paul Medhurst is pretty much the same, they think they are gods gift to footy.

Saw Shaun Rehn at Luna Park one day a couple of years back in his Hawthorn days.... he couldn't fit in the dodgem cars. He looked like that beanpole guy from the Simpsons driving the compact car, ie knees around his ears. Then when he couldn't fit properly he held up the ride for 10mins because he couldn't get out. He's a P***k because he cost me valuable ride time.

Only met a few of the boys.

David Wirrpunda - Champion bloke. Takes time out to have a chat to anybody, really friendly.

Danial Chick - funny guy. Was with his little boy Seth who is so cute.

Andrew Embley - met him through a friend last year. Great guy. i didn't know him pre 2002 but has definately sorted himself out.

on the other hand....

Kerr - thinks he's gods gift.

Medhurst - like Kerr. There was a rumour going the rounds when he was playing at Hale that he when he got dropped from the A's cause he was too cocky. He hasn't changed

Met a few players, mostly from bygone days. All nice blokes - in particular, former Hawthorn player Scotty Maginness was an absolute crack up!

Mal McBean (what a great name) played 50 odd games for St Kilda in the 40s and now plays for my bowling club. I could sit for hours and listen to him over a few beers - about the day he ironed out Jack Dyer, and so on...!

Nicest experience wasn't in the flesh. Sent an email to Port Power to congratulate Brett Montgomery on winning their B&F (being an ex-Doggie, I was rapped for him). I was surprised to receive a handwritten letter from him in the mail shortly after, expressing thanks. Great gesture, which made me like him all the more!!

Warwick Capper tried to pick up a girl i know when she was 16 (Granted she was at an overage club, but he woulda been what.... in his 40's???)

talking about dumb, how dumb is Ryan Fitzgerald? The guy's mouth is always open like a ******, he speaks slow, and he thinks breasts are genitals. Is Clive dumber than that?

Fevola, Richo, B Holland and M Johnson are all arrogant pajeros.

S West, Rioli and Bizzel are lovely.

In my really young days, the Febeys, Lyon and Stinger were the nicest guys and always allowed the parents to take millions of photos of their kids with the guys.

I'd definitely agree that Embley has had a 180 degree turnaround. Since his 'incident' in Club Bay View some years ago he has really got himself on track both fitness-wise and in his head.

He's a top bloke now, I see him around quite a bit and he's always happy to have a chat about the weekend's game.

Seems to be these young blokes with talent are given everything they want from a young age - especially in Perth they're idolised. A few go off the rails - the clever ones get over it and get on with the job of playing footy and being ambassadors to their team and to the sport.

I have to say two blokes I've seen who were stone morons at the time were Fraser Gehrig (in his Eagles days) and Ashley McIntosh. There was a young bloke having a quiet beer at Steve's pub in Nedlands - he had the misfortune to have an eyebrow ring and these two dinosaurs started pushing him around between them, calling him a ****ter, and then poured a beer on him. He was about 5'9 and 60kgs soaking wet. Safety in numbers hey fellas?
