Yep I can see a heap of Tugger fans consulting their 1992 edition of the Melways Road Maps to find where the Docklands Stadium is located.

Those that make it will be disappointed- not in the match which their mob will win easily - but in the stadium itself.

Let’s be frank. The brutalist but still dysfunctional joint was designed by the architects responsible for the high rise Housing Commission buildings. It is without doubt the worst footy stadium in existence. The Scats Litter Box by comparison is a paragon of design virtue.

If Arden St is the place where talent goes to die, then Docklands is home to teams on the brink of ignominy and irrelevancy.

Footscray is of course one of those teams. The nearby Big Wheel is more reliable than Footscray and certainly more likely to be in working order. It is a rare moment that I think about Footscray beyond * , throwdogs and the enduring umpiring bias they enjoy. But this week the fracas over the alleged application of a Squirrel Grip reminded me of Ted Whitten who originated use of the unusual move. What a lemon!

For me the Tigers are quicker and more direct and will win by 25. The crowd will be small and comprising 6k Squirrel fans and 8k Tugger fans who will be asking where the hell are we?

I miss VFL/Waverley Park. You froze your nuts off there and was a pain in the clacker to get to Public Transport wise, but she was a proper footy stadium with the greatest playing surface either.

I also miss that old dot matrix scoreboard !!!
